Is the future of Mars unpredictable? Scientists: The deadliest problems cannot be solved

The future of Mars is unpredictable

Mars is currently the most promising planet for human beings to discover extraterrestrial life and settle in. However, due to the limitations of technology and the long distance, human's understanding of Mars is still on the "surface", and knowledge about the internal structure and origin of Mars is still unknown There are big vacancies. In July 2020, China's "Tianwen-1" and the American "Perseverance" were launched successively, targeting Mars, and I believe they will bring more Mars-related data and knowledge.

Humans have been exploring Mars for many years, and have obtained some very important data and evidence. For example, scientists have found liquid water on Mars, but it is not as clearly visible as the lakes and oceans on Earth. Liquid water on Mars has "Hiddenness" actually means that it will appear with the seasons. This is the uniqueness of liquid water on Mars, and this discovery took 15 years. It can be seen that a simple water exploration will take 15 hours, let alone It's life on Mars.

In the "previous life" of Mars, like Earth, it had oceans and lakes and was a habitable planet, but now the water has disappeared. The gravitational force of Mars is smaller than that of Earth, and its mass and volume are smaller, so after encountering the solar wind, it is not enough to protect its atmosphere. If things go on like this, the atmosphere of Mars will be slowly wiped out, and the water of Mars will be slowly evaporated, because Without an atmosphere, it is difficult to form a water cycle, and finally dissipate in space

However, when scientists were studying and analyzing the surface of Mars, they found that there would still be liquid water flowing out of the hillsides on the surface of Mars, and the images were successfully captured by the probe. This is the first time to find the most direct evidence on Mars. But scientists believe that there are still many ice caps deep in the north and south poles of Mars. Whenever summer comes, the surface temperature of Mars rises, the ice caps melt, and the liquid water turns into a gaseous state. But when winter comes, the temperature drops, the water freezes, and we can't see it after it freezes.

In addition, scientists said that salty water has been detected on the surface of Mars. Salty water is water with high salt concentration. Salty water has high density and is difficult to evaporate. Therefore, even if Mars loses its atmosphere, the water will slowly evaporate, but the salty water will evaporate. The speed is very slow, and until now there is still a large amount of salty water that has not evaporated, and this happened to be discovered by us.

Although scientists have discovered liquid water on Mars, it is also difficult to fix, which is also the most deadly problem we want to move to Mars. Some people would say that there are ice caps in the North and South Pole, but the number of ice caps is small and the area is very small. It is initially estimated that the depth of the ice caps is only 3,000 meters. Even if all the ice caps melt at such a depth, it is difficult to form oceans and lakes. The surface of Mars would be immediately evaporated.

Originally, scientists wanted to fix carbon dioxide on Mars to form a thick atmosphere, and to stabilize the environment on the surface of Mars, and then gradually form an ocean, but given the gravity of Mars itself, carbon dioxide cannot be fixed at all, let alone the atmosphere. After all, the reason why Mars has become what it is today is caused by itself. At present, it is impossible for humans to build and transform Mars, and no matter how long it takes, there will be no oceans and atmosphere on Mars.
