If you are new to writing and publishing articles online, one of the most common question that you may ask is __ How often should I publish a post online? __ You might think publishing more articles would lead to more visitors and reads on your blog or website.

However, the big question is “Should you publish every day?”

One of the most common pieces of advice you may come across is to post every day. That sounds so easy, doesn’t it? A simple post every day. But only a few people can publish daily. I should know. I’ve been trying for literally weeks now. Nevertheless, this strategy works for a lot of people out there.

One of the biggest blogs in the world, Huffington Post, got its start by publishing one blog post every 58 seconds. That’s about 1,600 to 2,000 articles per day.

That’s just _ wow _

Posting daily is a good schedule for your blog if it’s a news-focused one in a fast-paced niche. Weekly or monthly posts aren’t going to cut it in that case. Having fresh new content on a daily basis will encourage viewers to visit your site as part of their daily routine.

Frequent posting is also a good idea if you have a large viewer base. If you already have loyal audience that visits your site regularly you may post frequently. However, this does not mean every single day.

One of the best advices I have come across is to write every day. The simple act of writing every day is essential for a writer. I believe that it is great practice to increase your writing speed and be better writer. You will produce clever, more profound articles. On the other hand, publishing one article per day will create burnout and reduce creativity because you will be on a clock and this will hamper the quality of your work. Writing for your blog will become a chore and something you dread every day.

There are many people out there who have to write every day because it's their job and have clients who need them to. That is ok, they get paid for it.

But writing just for the sake of publishing a new post online every day is not the way to go. Focusing on quality of the writing instead of quantity is what that matters. Especially for writers who are trying to make a name for themselves. The most important thing is to write something people will take the time to read.

In the words of Ray Bradbury, “The best hygiene for beginning writers or intermediate writers is to write a hell of a lot of short stories. If you can write one short story a week — it doesn’t matter what the quality is to start, but at least you’re practicing, and at the end of the year you have 52 short stories, and I defy you to write 52 bad ones. Can’t be done. At the end of 30 weeks or 40 weeks or at the end of the year, all of a sudden a story will come that’s just wonderful.”

And I truly and completely agree, just writing every day will really help you to hone your craft and the good stuff will make you a lot of money too. It doesn’t matter what you write about, as long as you do it. And once it becomes a habit you will start noticing things that you want to write about, something interesting and say something creative about it.

Now, if you publish daily the one amazing article you wrote a week ago is now buried under a heap of not-so-great posts. Making your readers loose interest in your blog.

I would suggest you to publish a post every week so. This way you are consistent and that amazing article you choose from your entire week of writing would be at the top of your blog for an entire week.

As long as you write about something useful and interesting, your readers will appreciate your blogging schedule, no matter what it is. Posting once or twice a week, or even once a month, will let you write a little more in-depth about your topic.

And quite frankly publishing every single day is not easy, it definitely would be a challenge and personally for me it's simply painful.

If you want your blog to be a trendsetter, here are some tips you can follow:

  • Make sure your blog topic or niche has enough content for you to write about frequently and keep your readers coming back for more. If not, consider changing to a less frequent schedule, or broadening your style.
  • Take a look at the popular blogs in your niche that has a steady flow of audience and try to figure out what makes their successful posts work. Then, maybe consider following their publishing pattern.
  • And most importantly write about something you love.
