Great warriors of ancient China

Chinese civilization is second to none. It has almost 3000 years of history and it's full of great creations. Being the oldest, China has a long list of great warriors and heroes who had their own greatness in war.

Xiang Yu

Xiang Yu (died c. 195 BC) was a leader of the peasant army in China during the late Warring States period. He was also a general and politician who lived in the state of Han, which was then considered part of the Western Han dynasty.

Xiang Yu was born into a peasant family in Xiangyang, Hubei province, but his family was well known for being able to produce outstanding soldiers at an early age. At age 15, Xiang Yu joined the army and quickly attained the rank of jianghu (martial artist). He spent much time learning from his seniors, until he finally succeeded in killing his teacher with a single blow. When Xiang Yu returned home to visit his parents, they were surprised that their son had become so strong and brave after only a year's training.

When Xiang Yu's father died suddenly, he took over his father's responsibilities as chief administrator of their village. In 196 BC, when Cao Cao attacked Xiahou Yuan's forces at Guandu (near present-day Chancheng), Xiang Yu led 10,000 men against him with orders to stop him from entering southern China. In order to gain more support from local farmers

Qin Shi Huang

Qinshihuang, "First Emperor".

Qin Shi Huang was the first emperor of China's Qin Dynasty. He is generally considered the most powerful and successful of all the emperors in Chinese history. He ruled China from 221 to 210 BC, as first emperor of a unified China. Under his rule, the Qin state conquered all other warring states, creating what many consider an empire that united much of Inner Asia. His dynasty lasted only fifteen years; eventually he was defeated by Han forces at the Battle of Xiangyang in 209 BC. After this defeat, he ordered a massive expansion of his empire north into central Asia and also east into Shandong. The Qin Dynasty collapsed shortly after his death in 210 BC because of rebellions by local lords who had been appointed by him during his reign.

The Qin integrated existing irrigation systems into their river-drainage system to increase agricultural output; they developed new crops such as taro and silkworms; built up a strong military force by conscripting peasants into standing armies; instituted a feudal land management system to facilitate agriculture; and established centralized government with a bureaucracy modeled on that of Confucius's "Schools" (or "Halls").

Emperor Taizong of Tang

Emperor Taizong of Tang (Chinese: 唐太宗; pinyin: Táng Dàzōng) (r. 626–649), with the era name of Taiqing, was an emperor of the Chinese Tang dynasty who reigned for 18 years, from 626 to 649. During his reign, Tang China experienced a prolonged period of peace, prosperity and stability that lasted until the An Lushan Rebellion in 755. He is traditionally considered to be one of the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period's greatest emperors, and is also known as "Emperor Worthy of the Nation" (賢帝廣天).

Taizong ascended to throne in 626 at age 14 after defeating his uncle Wang Shichong in a power struggle for control of the empire. His reign was marked by economic prosperity and military expansionism into Central Asia. He pursued intensive military campaigns against the Eastern Turks and Western Turks, eventually conquering both nations. He also expanded his empire into Sichuan and modern-day Tibet. At home he reduced taxes on farmland owned by nobles from a third down to half. He also reformed local administration by improving
