free will, whether humans have

free will

Once, I wrote an article to explain that human beings do not have free will. Later, I overturned this speculation. Humans have free will, but not everyone has free will.

I used to think that all human behaviors are manipulated by the body, and even thoughts are manipulated by the flesh. At that time, my view was more one-sided. Later, I discovered that some people can manipulate themselves, have their own will, and have their own thoughts. , have their own behavior, rather than simply being influenced by the body.

I used to divide freedom into three levels:

The first layer: freedom of choice: every intelligent creature pursues freedom, and is unwilling to be arranged to do things that they do not like to do

Others arrange for you to do things you don’t want to do. Under pressure and without a choice, people will suffer a lot. It’s a pain that goes against one’s own heart, but nothing can change. Karma, such as being hoped by your parents to become a dragon, this kind of pressure makes you have to do it. It goes against your heart. This is unfreedom, and this is the most superficial level of unfreedom.

The second layer: freedom of behavior: people are not free to control their own behavior

All human behavior is controlled by the body, and our behavior is bound within a framework. This framework is not how we want to build it. It is a framework that people build unconsciously and randomly in the process of cognition of the world. We don’t understand it. The structure of this framework, three views, morality, bottom line, and habits are its commonly used names. Humans rely on this framework, and all actions cannot be separated from this framework. If you are lucky, you are born in a good family, have good three views, and are good Habit, it will become your help; but if you are born in a bad family, it will become the source of your pain;

The lucky people are healed by childhood, and the unfortunate people are healed by childhood.

But no matter how you say it, you can't change it. It's accidental, it's not free, it's not one's own choice, whether it's luck or misfortune, no matter how it is affected, no matter what behavior you have, it's all in the unconscious, by your brain. This is a deeper level of unfreedom.

To give a few examples:

1. You don't want to play mahjong yourself. You say quit gambling, but your family won't let you play mahjong, but you can't quit. Someone once cut off their hands because of playing mahjong;

2. Smoking addiction, non-smokers think it is easy to quit smoking, but how many people have quit smoking successfully? Even people who have successfully quit smoking are easily infected again

There is no essential difference between addiction and habit. In other words, they are one body. They both build a framework in the brain, and the framework controls people's behavior. Whether it is voluntary or not, it is difficult to resist. Do smokers really want to smoke? Do drug addicts really want to do drugs? Do you really want to go online? Do you really want to play with your phone? Do you really want to commit suicide? Many similar questions, but the final conclusion is that maybe when we are doing this, our minds are hot, we are voluntary, but when we have time to think, we will choose the opposite idea, not going or going less, but when the real time comes , who can control themselves? Often I don’t have any resistance, I don’t go there next time, I quit smoking, I don’t play games if I kill myself, my family and friends will say that the Internet is not good for my eyes, why don’t you think about it? Don’t play cards. , but do not know that their inner struggle, people can not control themselves, people do not have free will.

Level 3: Emotional Freedom

People cannot choose their emotions, but they are chosen by their emotions. People cannot control their emotions, but they can only be controlled by their emotions.

Emotions are controlled by chemical substances in the human body, but when we secrete emotional substances are not controlled by our will. Our lives are messed up by emotions, and no one feels that there is any problem with emotions.

Positive emotions are the fuel of life, and negative emotions are the nightmare of life.

Happy, passionate, motivated, friendly to people, generous

Sad, I don't like anyone, I don't want to do anything

Negativity, depression, etc. are even more difficult, nothing is meaningful, life is pain, the world is hell

Everyone likes positive emotions, and everyone doesn’t want to have negative emotions, but this is not transferred by human will, and is imposed on oneself without choice. Isn’t this the greatest unfreedom? Do depressed people really want to kill themselves? Do irritable people really want to be angry? Everyone may know the answers to these questions, but what everyone knows cannot be changed.

These three layers are the reasons why I once denied free will. Why did I change my mind later?

Since ancient times, human beings have fought for freedom. Human beings have gained freedom, but only superficial freedom.

Free will is a beautiful word, it is the pursuit of intelligent creatures, but few people know what freedom is. People regard it as freedom to do whatever they want, but they don't know that it is an excuse for indulgence.

It's not freedom to do what you want, it's freedom not to do what you want, and the right to choose is freedom.

Most of the modern people have the shallow option, but who can have the deep option? In the past, I thought that no one could have this level of choice. Since I have a certain understanding of cultivation, I have slowly changed this idea.

The will to freedom is not possessed by everyone, nor is there from the beginning. It is what we pursue. From the slave society in ancient times to socialism, this is the result of the pursuit of freedom, and the deeper level of freedom also requires us to continue to pursue.
