An Amazing Tie That Binds 21st-Century Man To His Predecessors Over 500 Years Ago

Long before the Roswell New Mexico incident in 1947, there were claims of strange celestial encounters and sightings in the skies. Historians found a recorded claim from 1561 in Germany.

Around dawn on April 14th, 1561, locals in Nuremberg witnessed a bizarre event in the sky. According to belief, witnesses claimed to have seen hundreds of spheres, cylinders, and strangely shaped objects moving erratically over Nuremberg. People described it as a battle in the air. It was allegedly followed up by a large, black, triangular object and a crash outside of the city.

A broadsheet article was printed in the local news later that month, describing the event in detail. According to the early day news article, at the beginning of the event, there appeared to be two blood-red, semi-circular arcs in the middle of the sun. It goes on to describe numerous globe-like structures and several structures that were rod-shaped also appearing. What looked like a fight carried on for an hour. At the end of the fight, the strange objects began falling to earth “as if they all burned.”

Over the years, modern UFO enthusiasts have interpreted the event as an aerial battle or dog fight, possibly of extraterrestrial origin as humans had yet to take to the skies. Skeptics have repeatedly dismissed the claims, insisting the event was a “sun dog.”

Dozens of “explanations” have been pondered over the years and the videos that were taken of the events that were reported have been analyzed by many. While the Air Force has offered explanations, those explanations when compared to the video, don’t match up.
