Right now, the world has come to A stop it seems, at least for now. As businesses that are non essential struggle to find ways to earn money while the rest of the world plummet Financially, there’s no shadow of a doubt that things won’t quite be the same as it was even after COVID-19. So how is your life about to change? It won’t be the type of world you were use to after all of this and consider this a glimpse into the future. Although it seem scary, it’s our future and you’ll just have to suck it up and live in it, no matter how dystopian it might get. When your governor refers to the “new Normal, realize it‘s not just reopening of businesses and other institutions, but rather, the beginning of the future promised by The Jetsons or science fiction.

When the ball dropped on the year 2020, I was stoked about the possibilities this new profound decade would bring to the world much like decades before it. The pop culture, music, new inventions and phrases that would shape the way we live. When you sit back and think about how life was before the 2010’s, you can distinguish between Between say 2005 vs 2015. Uber didn’t exist back in 2005, Facebook wasn’t as popular of a platform and mobile apps, and Tiktok were not in the lexicon Of peoples minds collectively during those early periods of the 21st century. So how does one, being that we’re in the earliest stages of a new decade, determine what makes the 2020’s?

Back in the late 2010’s...

All we have to measure the time period between 2019 and present day 2020 is by what we were able to do last year that we aren’t now due to COVID 19. As you watch Tv shows like 90 Day Finance or Too Hot Too Handle on Netflix, one distinguishable detail would arguably be that, when the following shows were produced, you would see segway footage of people walking in crowds in LA or multitudes of beach goers in a filmed scene in Miami. Watching this on TV right now might make us question: why in the hell are those people outside? Shouldn’t they be quarentined?

I mean back then, you could do the following before 2020?:

  • go to the grocery store without a mask and walk around free
  • Curbside pickup wasn’t a thing
  • School schooling’s and Impeachment were hot topics on the news
  • You could actually eat inside of restaurants
  • You could go clubbing
  • You could go to the beach
  • Most people worked in a physical location
  • Schools were a thing and kids were at school during the day
  • Traveling was fun, going around the world wasn‘t hard
  • People had birthdays with friends and family or went out for their birthdays
  • Parades and other special events were Held in your city
  • You could watch sports
  • Thriving economy if you lived in a first world nation

What makes 2020 different from 2019 thus far?

In fact it would of been nearly impossible just 9 months ago that we collectively would be locked in our homes as the economy got weaker and chaos occurred in hospital full of Coronavirus patiences on ventilators. It make me believe that The impact of Coronavirus is the new 9/11 of our lifetime in this fresh new decade that doesn’t seriously have a real label on it just yet except for the current epidemic affecting billions of people as we speak. Charity events deemed” historical” like Together At Home concert where major artist and trusted governement officials play music in their mansions via livestream would of been looked at as simply another cool trendy thing to do if this was 2019 until you realized that they didn’t have a choice and had to stay inside for their safet.

Even SNL comedians had to do most of their material and gags from their apartments and late night show home edition with Stephan Colbert And Jimmy Fallon and the other Jimmy were broadcasting their shows from home. TV commercials were filled with hallow, sadistic music followed by the generic “We’re in this together “ mantra being consistently repeated thoughout the media. Indeed this pandemic has trumped anything any of us have faced within the last 5-8 years because this time, it affected all of us, all communities, every corner of the Earth and this pandemic unfortunately for better or for worse, has created the early 2020’s narrative attached with a tedious reminder of a “new Normal” or that “things won’t be quite the same” after this pandemic is over.

You aren't allowed to go outside unless it’s essential or you work at a restauran, hospital, grocery store or gas station. Most people need to got to a food bank or pantry to feed their families. You are forced to use Ubereats, Doordash, drive-thru or curbside pickup to order food or to grocery shopping. Most people are working remotely from home and kids get taught on a laptop in their rooms. Most folks are living off of a stimulus check or on their last check while waiting for unemployment. It’s obvious that things aren’t really the same and

Of course I’d like to also add that some of these predictions may or may not happen at all so please take this information with a grain of salt and understand that legally this article is simply predicting future technology that could come out after COVID 19.

Survillance cameras on every street corner

After the end of this Covid 19 pandemic, there most likely will be beefed up security in the sky by drones or cctv technology type cameras on every block using 5G to detect your movement at a moment’s notice. This could be apart of the new normal to insure that anyone who has a temperature of 101 or more are tracked and that neighboring communities are notified immediately to avoid any potential new virus hotspots locally. Delivery services like Uber or Doordash can cancel your order based on if you have Covid19 cases in your area. It’ll suck for you but will make everyone else safe. Who cares if that $34 dollar order for pizza is canceled, eat, what’s ever in your empty smart refrigerator and Shut the F up! And welcome to the future.

All employees would need to get their temperature checked with temp guns before clocking into their jobs at say, Mcdonalds or at the office. It’ll all be apart of the new normal that you and I will need to be accustomed to soon post Covid 19 and there’s not a thing you can really do about it.

Smart homes and 5G

By Stephan Bechert on Unsplash

Smarthomes will obviously be more integrated soon thanks to involving 5G Tech installed on almost every street corner globally. Now more than ever, communication between inanimate objects will be seamless and more interconnected than back in the 2010’s. From driverless vehicles (more on that later) to toasters,TV’s, Stoves and freezers and thermastats. 5G will not only make download speeds much speedier but it’ll help everyday devices in the home be in harmony with each other.

Light fixtures Inside your home could turn on or off not just by Alexia, but base on your habits within the home. Thermastats through body temperature rad or could detect how hot or cold you are at home and adjust the temperature to what would normally be your comfort level on cold or hot days.

Implantable Microchips and digital tatto IDs

Soon after COVID 19 lockdown and when things totally turn back to normal, many citizens globally may be required to recieve a vaccine alone with a digital ID that’s programmed into an implantable microchip. This may help ogverment and medical experts track future hotspots of contagious viruses that are deadly or fatal to humans. According to ID2020, Digital ID‘s will help neighboring countries keep track of refugees and foreigners who have no access to identification. It‘ll also digitally verify that a person is who they say they are. A mandatory vaccine will be conducted via Bill And Milenda Gates Foundation to insure that Covid 19 can’t spread into any other communities The mandatory vaccine Will have nano reflective technology that can be detected under the epidermis of your skin. This cyinder shape capsule will most likely be inserted between the skin of your hand where your thumb and pointer finger is located. Medical information will also be stored on this RFID chip to easily access information of previous medial history/records, surgeries and etc.

Many will resist to this because of moral based reasons or invasion of privacy.. This might leave people sent to jail until they comply or those individuals may not be able to participate in society for refusing to be microchipped and vaccinated by the state. People in the US may not be able to buy or sell without their digital ID nor travel statewide or globally unless they have it under their skin. At first, it’ll probably be optional but overtime could be required. Any infant boring post Covid 19 Might get a vaccine and implantable chip too.

Drones in the sky

By Christian Langenhan on Unsplash

Not only will you see an increase in security and surveillance in your neighborhood, but you’ll start to notice flying drones everywhere. Police departments are already using drones to spy on crime infested areas and Amazon is planning to use Drones to deliver packages to customers in the near future. Uber is planning to have drone like flying shuttles that take you to different places within your city or territory. There could be hotspot drone stations designated on residential roofs from said companies that could pay owners to fly and land on top of as well as robust delivery stations like Fedex and Amazon to use drones to pick-up deliveries or customer’s packages from new birthed-delivery services that don’t exist now of the time of this article being written.

Centralized Crytpo Currency becomes mainstream

By André François McKenzie on Unsplash

Now crypto currency is something that central Banking insistutions dabble into. Even Mark Zuckerburgh of Facebook will be on it with a new social currency called Libra, several people of all ages might opt-in to using digital currency post COVID-19. China is already using digital crypto to make much safer transaction which mean this concept isn‘t so far away from reaching America and other countries soon after. Society and corporations may phase this concept via smart phone or Apply pay first. Soon enough, your digital ID under your skin may also hold not only your medical information but also banking where you can access a cashless transaction ubiquitously around the world.

Paper money might be considered too dirty and therefore, by using cashless Digital monetary trade, it’ll keep the world safe from viruses and pandemic outbreaks. It’s the new normal that will be normal for the rest of the 21sr Century.

Augmented Reality and VR Technology

By Daniel Frank on Unsplash

Companies like google and even Apple are on the verge of developing Agumented Wearable technology that will slowly phase out cellular smart phones and the way We choose to interact with with each other during the 2020’s. Instead of taking selfies by your rectangular smart phone device, your personal camera drone can simply film and takes pictures for you. You’ll be able to operate these wearable glasses and use your mind or hands to navigate the menu with Digital augmented imagines that transmit and blend with real Live backgrounds you see in front of you.

Social networks and internet 2 will basically be VR and Augmented reality images that appear on the wearable vision of the glasses people use everyday. It’ll also mean that glass frame companies might have exclusive deals with Apple, Google, Windows or other new and exciting start-ups to partner with eye glass companies in the near future. The next eye doctor visit of picking out frames might be the most exciting it has been in years.

This technology will be everywhere while smartphones will slowly but eventually be boiled down to an item found at your local family dollar at an affordable price under $40 dollars.

Work from home

By visuals on Unsplash

Now that Covid 19 has normalized remote telecommunicatio, most folks will opt in to working from home instead of a traditional office space. Due to growing concerns of the public and any future pandemics, millions of people will choose remote work-from-home situations because of safety reasons.Schools will also offer remote learning options for students who can afford to, and charter online learning will be huge. Don’t expect this style of business to fade away after this global pandemic is over. As automation and A.I replaces more manually human operated task over the years, there will be less need of working at a warehouse or factory as robotic and smart A.I will be bale to perform most of these human type of careers faster while saving companies millions. Eventually, some form of Universal Basic Income or UBI will need to be distributed to humans in order to pay for essential services and everyday needs after the great displacement due to A.I and automation.

In 2018, former presidental hopeful Andrew Yang proposed during his campaign of a Universal Basic Income of $1000 per month to solve the growing displacement of jobs in the future. We may see this policy into play via centralized global crypto system in the future.

Driverless cars and trucks

By Markus Spiske on Unsplash

By the time 5G has been set up around the country and globally, make no mistake about it, but you’ll also see driverless vehicles on the road by 2023 the latest. Tesla and Ford are already creating cars that ultilize this technology although in it’s infant stages. These new features of driverless cars will allow people to safely maneuver around the city or highly ways safely while less car accident fatalities will occur. Older vehicles might be junked overtime because of new government regulations for transportation.

Purchasing a car by the mid 2020’s could be a challenging feat for most millennials.Instead of individuals owning a car, companies like Uber or Lyft could buy out driverless vehicles from several car manufactures like Toyota or Honda and then rent out cab services to the general using service monthly or quarterly subscriptions for families or single people to get around. Most American cities are planning to cut down on carbon emissions by creating and paving designated biking side roads and more robust public transportation infrastructure silimualr to ones found in Japan or Central European countries.

Solar power dominated companies

By American Public Power Association on Unsplash

We may see a surage of evnriomental friendly solar energy efficacy base tools and products in the the following years after Covid 19 as more cunsumers consiences will be shifted towards a cleaner for functioning concept of Earth and nature. Electric driverless cars using solar energy could hit the markets in the years following the post Covid 19. That also mean electric companies if not already involved, would be using cleaner energy solutions to reduce CO2 emissions in the air overall. Smart phones may also be solar generated to save energy of surging the battery in charge. Buildings could face fines for not following strict government guidelines for CO2 reduction or face bankruptc.

A.I is widely introduced and gets smarter

In a couple of years, A.I programs like Siri, Alexia or Contana, could be as smart and convincing as a real human or much smarter than you! These new developments in turn will make life for living beings much easier while replacing the need for us to do mundane task at work or at an office. They’re even developing A.I that can conceptualize writing articles, replacing humans at news agencies all together. Robotic arms that can remotely be controlled online by said doctor, could perform life saving surgeries while not present, paralegal searches could easily done faster and conviently. Most paper work or business analysis based work could be performed by A.I within milliseconds compared to an actual human, bring their jobs and talents to a halt and jeopardizing the way they get paid.

Andrew Yang has even written a book called ” The War On Normal People“ goes on about how most state funded governement solutions will simply be to retrain displaced workers from non-computer technological fields Into IT professionals. Something Google is doing now though an online class, but this foresseably won’t be enough. It looks like viruses and pandemics won’t be the only pandemic to hit the global markets..
