If you’ve been following HBO’s Westworld in the last few years, you might be aware by now of a teaser trailer for the third season that has dropped in the form of a suspicious advertisement for a fake company called ‘Incite’. See below.

Westworld S3 Teaser - 'Incite'

The video directs you to a website that showrunners set up for ‘Incite’, a fake data-collection company co-founded by Liam Dempsey Sr. (Jefferson Mays), who looks like he’ll be playing a big role in the new season. This is what I personally think is a brilliant marketing tactic to advertise the new season, but it’s also a common marketing tactic in film and television these days as well.

“The world is complex, complicated, messy. But life doesn’t have to be,” he says during the trailer. “The future is powered by you and we know you. Incite is different.

“We can protect our climate and we can find you a career you can be excited about. The possibilities are limitless. With Incite the only choice you’ll have to make is us.”

A full-length proper trailer has also dropped recently for the third season. You can check it out below.

First Trailer Breakdown

Most of the trailer is narrated by Dolores who has finally made her way into the human world after the end of season two. We see little clips here and there of the scenery of the New World. However, we don't actually know what city she is in or where she is located. Most of her dialogue is around expressing the anxiety of being a vulnerable artificially intelligent being in the human world. "There are machines in this world, but not like us", she says. "We have to be smarter than them, or they will find us, and they will kill us", she says as we see a shot of a man with a gun behind his back heading up to what we think may be an android (someone like Dolores). it appears as if much of the premise of season three will be about humans hunting down androids. But more on this later.

Next, we see Maeve who we are presuming to be the new "leader" of Westworld since Dolores has left for the human world. The new Westworld is in a post-World War II-esque setting. This is interjected with scenes from Dolores in the brand-new world, and a song starts playing from war times, against the eerie-imagery of what seems to be an impending war between artificially intelligent androids and humans – this I presume is going to be the premise of season three. "You told me your world was different from ours, but I don't see any difference at all. It won't take much to bring it all crashing down", we hear Dolores saying near the end of the trailer. We also see a short clip of our weary-eyed and frightened Man in Black.

When does Westworld Season 3 come out?

We don't know when Westworld season three will hit the airwaves, but we know we will have to wait a bit longer as early reports say it would be sometime in 2020, although as of this writing we are very close to the new year, there is just no saying when in 2020 we will get the new season.

The gap between the conclusion of season one and two was 14 months – so we can assume or similar trajectory between season two and three, which will bring us to early 2020 at the earliest.

The showrunners do not wish to rush the production of the show. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, show creator Jonathan Nolan said that “It’s an ongoing conversation with our friends at HBO, and for us, with a show of this scope and scale, we’re not interested in doing the compromised version,” he said. “We want the show to get bigger and bigger and more ambitious and this takes time. We want to take all the time we need to get it right.” Source: https://www.nme.com/blogs/tv-blogs/westworld-season-3-release-date-trailers-casting-news-fan-theories-2322590/amp?fbclid=IwAR2GIU_1EeV4KURCvVFbx8u67PYp5kmVvyIbUJLHDZnubPTS_vaxaFVaulE

How many episodes will Westworld Season 3 be?

We’re assuming it will be 10 episodes. The last two seasons were 10 episodes each.

What cast members will be returning?

We know that Dolores (Evan Rachel Wood) and Maeve (Thandie Newton) will return for the series. The pair have spoken out about being paid equally as their male co-stars and have confirmed that they will be paid just as much as Ed Harris and Anthony Hopkins (their male co-stars in the first two seasons) for Season 3. The rest of returning cast members are unconfirmed as of yet.

Spoiler alert: There were a lot of deaths at the end of season two, so it is safe to assume that a lot of the characters will not make it through to season three. What is confirmed however is that one of Breaking Bad’s lead actors, Aaron Paul, will be joining the cast for season three – which honestly I am very excited about because I loved him in that show.
