We Need to Kickstart Art for the Economy

When we think of the economy this is the last thing we think we need to put resources into.

Due to the pandemic we're experiencing tons of issues. One of the biggest issues is the economy. We've been told to quarantine and many people are out of work. Fortunately there are some stimulus packages but still we have businesses that have closed down.

Even with low interest rates, people aren't willing to risk taking loans to build a business or buy a ton of things. It's not the fault of the public that we aren't buying anything anymore. In fact we've been told to stay away from stores altogether by our own government.

The government now knows that they have to loosen some restrictions in order to get people to spend money on things. Us buying things will basically help the economy to continue forward. Unfortunately the damage has already been done. We're all staying in and saving money. Well that's not totally true. We are buying things online. In general, I don't think there's that much to buy online except for maybe the latest gadgets.

Without the support for artists I believe purchases will continue to decline. Our interests in products will decrease as everything will look the same eventually. Artist have an ability to make dull regular things seem alive and new again. That's why you see logos on popular products change every so often. It gives products a breathe of fresh air and builds consumer interest again. Who do you think creates these logos and designs? Well I hate to break it to you but artists are the culprits.

Our governments are telling us to go to restaurants and continue to shop. I say that they should actually put more of their funding into the arts. It will pay dividends eventually. Unfortunately I don't think the public or the government sees it the same way. What everyone fails to see is what actually pushes people to buy things? If we live in a fully practical world we wouldn't buy so much because we have everything we need already in our homes. We now live in a way more practical world than we ever have been because of the pandemic.

We need art to get people to get back into the spending mood. Art gives people purpose to purchase again. Why do you think people buy things with nice packaging? It's all art. We need good advertising in order to entice us to buy things as well. It's scientifically proven that people will likely buy things if they are aesthetically pleasing. Why else do we have beautiful models to display clothing?

The film, performance art, and video game industry themselves should be considered art and half of these industries have been stalled because of the pandemic. People go to the theatres to watch movies. Watching movies is not a practical thing. It's a piece of art that not only funds the movie industry. Restaurants, movie equipment, flowers, chocolates you name it, they also benefit from the film and performance art industries.

It's something to do to bring loved ones or potential dates. Love is an industry and it also benefits from the arts. Those cards, bouquets, art exhibitions etc. are all things that help people get together and bond. Do you realize how much money can be made from happy people?

When people are happy they are more likely to spend more money on their loved ones. When you're by yourself you only buy for yourself. When you're with someone or even with a family you buy for them. That's why the government promotes building families because families help the economy. You have that many more people to buy for.

A perfect example of this is Christmas. People tend to be in much happier moods during this time of season. They're buying for loved ones but if everything looks the same as last year's then there is less appeal to buy things for our loved ones. We want to get something special for them. Every year artists create pieces that make us buy more. They put a spin on old products that we know and love and allow us to fall in love with these products all over again.

Art is a way to entertain the people and make us want more. It's something that seems superfluous on paper but really it has bountiful potential in our society. We tend to forget this when we think of the economy. Generally we think of numbers like society is made of robots ready to buy whatever product is on the shelves.

Without art we lose a lot of the urgency to buy things. There's no hype in products anymore. Things will start looking bland and monotonous. Our moods will decline from the dullness of everyday life.

So I urge the government to put more funding into helping out artists. Fund art projects because in the end these artists will help build your economy. It's the perfect time for them to be artistic. There is so much drama that they can work with however when they're starving for food how are they going to create the pieces that we need to buy? We need artists to have ambition and create things that give us urgency to see. They will bond us together in unity and bring joy to our psyche.
