The Titan Chronicles

PROLOGUE

In the year 2095 the earth was engulfed in a third world war. A conflict so deadly that late in the year 2099 it ended with the world’s superpowers targeting one another with nuclear weapons of mass destruction. The fallout that ensued was vastly devastating leaving one percent of the earth’s population alive and rendering the ground level uninhabitable.

Luckily for the remaining one percent, the world’s greatest minds had foreseen such an event as an inevitable outcome of the terrible war and had constructed a mega city. This mega city was a mechanical masterpiece, it could house the survivors of the nuclear fallout. The city had a protective bio-dome around it with a filtration system, ensuring that the air allowed in was pure and free of the poisonous radiation permeating throughout the earth. It had four massive solar powered turbine engines that kept it hovering exactly one mile over the ruins of Washington D.C, along with a gravity well to keep its center of gravity equal to that of the earth's surface. This mechanical marvel was known as Elysium and was a haven for humanity to grow and rebuild.

It soon became apparent that there was a great need for a government and thus The United Republic of Earth was born. The U.R.E was governed by a thirty-five-member senate lead by a chancellor elected from among the senate members. Senators were only allowed to hold office for up to a total of twelve years. All senate terms being two years at a time. The chancellor could hold the seat of chancellor for no longer than nine years split in three-year terms. Soon after the creation of the government, the E.C was created. E.C stood for Earth Corps a military police force used to protect the citizens of Elysium as well as enforce the laws of the U.R.E.

Once the government was settled in and the E.C created, then engineers using the same technology used to create and construct Elysium, created a farming system hovering above what was once the American mid-west. The farming system used synthetic soil and a controlled climate to ensure that all food grown would be free of flaws and more than enough to supply the population.

It was not long before new major corporations to begin to spring up. Humans have a need for fashion, entertainment, electronics, and the medical field is always evolving. Many of these new corporations, especially those in the science and medical fields took to the ground level of earth building their compounds, labs, warehouse’s, and research facilities with the same protective bio-domes and air filtration systems as Elysium.

Our story begins in the year 2192 at one of these very corporate compounds deep in the heart of the Rocky Mountains…
