Introduction.

Indeed, the pandemic has changed on how we live, and that majority of people have been looking for ways to make money while working from home.

While this is possible for programmers, content creators, illustrators, animators, graphics design and so on. For those who don't have any expertise in these fields it becomes a big challenge to make a substantial online income.

Currently there are several writing platforms that offer a way to make money online. Medium being one of the leading platforms mostly for English speaking countries. The biggest criticism Medium is facing is the inability to pay countries that Stripe doesn't support.

This is what most of the blockchain blogging platforms are trying to solve. The first thing they try to solve is a universal monetization system that would go beyond borders.

Current and existing Blockchain blogging platforms

Hive.blog

So far, the biggest dog out there is Hive.blog, this is like the phoenix on the rise because it is a reincarnation of Steemit. There was a scandal about Steemit not being a true decentralized platform, so some developers decided to branch out and created Hive. Though this hive blockchain project seems promising and it is gaining momentum. there were things that I simply didn't like, so, I wrote about them here.

Pulish0x

I have honestly not even set foot on it, simply because it only talks about blockchain, for intimidated individuals like me, we tend to stay away from Geeck stuff. But according to other reviews, it seems to be paying people enough if you can write about blockchain and Bitcoin. Check it out here.

Mirror.xyz

Mirror.xyz is a new platform, though their user interface is a bit old fashioned, but I like their vision, the most attractive feature is the ability to share the generated revenue with another author. The way to make money is through donations where users can send you tips on your Ethereum account. You can check it out here.

sigle.io

Sigle is still in beta mode, but their vision is like many others, and a lot of features are not implemented yet, like comments, following and such. But it is an interesting project to keep an eye on. Check it here.

Sapien.network

Sapien is a social media site like Facebook where you can follow, like people's posts, share links, and when people charge your content, you get rewards for it. It is also in beta mode. Check it out here.

Cent.co

Cent.co has been around since 2007, and it seemed to pick up momentum at the time, but now it is slow and has changed a lot of things. The main way for creators to monetize their content as of now is through NFTs, you mint your art, images or posts and sell them for whatever price you see fit. It is still in beta mode. so, we will see what it will offer in the future. Check out their website here.

What needs to be done for these projects to sustain themselves?

After months and months of researching, here are things that I have come to realize that need to be implemented for both users and project owners to succeed.

1. It is all about money, money is not oxygen but in the world of humans it competes with oxygen. For project owners, create a project that will generate substantial income for content creators.

2. Stability. The biggest hurdle for cryptocurrency is its volatility. While most of these blockchain projects are built on blockchain technology, the ICO and cryptocurrency are unstable, the value of these cryptocurrency is not stable at all, and most founders find themselves on an unstable foundation when the market cap goes down.

The best way to do this is what Hive did, you can't dump all your holdings at once, there is a restriction mechanism where your wallet won't let you sell all your funds at once. This creates a stable market cap, getting rid of all the greedy people off the chain.

3. Help & Support. It has occurred to me that most of these blockchain projects don't have much of help & support. Hive.blog for example, there is never such thing as contact support. You are on your own, you must read and find out how to use it, if you make mistakes, it's all on you. This becomes hostile for inexperienced users, especially those who don't know anything about blockchain or cryptocurrency.

Startups of blockchain blogging platforms in general should ensure that they support inexperienced users until they become independent.

4.Geeck oriented platform. It also turns out that most of these new projects are Geeck oriented spaces, that if you are just a simple person who wants simple content you are out of luck. And even if you offer simple content, there aren't many readers who will be interested to hear what you have to say. This is because to begin with, to score an account with them you must first use Geeck skills to sign up for an account.

Conclusion

Personally, I think blockchain blogging systems are at their infancy. And that many things must be improved before it is for public use. And these are a few things that I pointed out that could be checked to attract more average users.
