Star Wars is a science fiction franchise set in a universe far far away.
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker Review
This review comes from my Letterboxd profile, where I review every movie I see. This is a really weird movie for me to review. While I personally really enjoyed The Rise of Skywalker, I also have to acknowledge there are a LOT of structural flaws throughout the course of the movie. It's another one of those instances where I want to give it a four subjectively and a three objectively, but unlike Timeless, where I ultimately decided my objectivity outweighed my subjectivity for that movie, this time, it's smack-dab in the middle and doesn't lean one way or the other. While I wouldn't say this is a better film than The Force Awakens, I might have personally preferred it. But, okay, I've talked about my general opinion on this movie, what are my specific opinions?

This review talks about events that happen throughout the film, but doesn't go into specific detail about how it all goes down. Because of this, this review will be given a minor/borderline major spoiler warning. It comes from my Letterboxd profile.

This review is for the theatrical cut of the movie released on the 2003 limited edition DVD set of the trilogy, which I happen to own. I may review the special edition contained on that DVD at a later date, but for now, here's my review of the original theatrical cut, which comes from my Letterboxd profile.
Jamie LammersPublished 3 years ago in FuturismThe REAL Reason The Empire Replaced The Clones, And It's Not Cost
The Bad Batch included an interesting sub-plot aside from the adventures of Hunter, Tech, Echo, Wrecker and Omega. In the premier episode, Wilhuff Tarkin arrived on Kamino in order to evaluate if the genetically modified clones of Clone Force 99 could be utilized in the new army of the Galactic Empire, and also decide the future of the Kaminoan cloning project as a whole. The sixth episode "Decommissioned" now gave us another reason, and probably the most important one, as to why the Empire did away with the clones so fast.

Star Wars: Andor is the show that fans have known to be in development for a long time, and yet it has been pretty quiet more often than not. That is not really a bad thing, given that secrecy can enhance one's viewing experience when there are not many expectations. However, there have been reports lately of what more we can expect from the series.
Culture SlatePublished 3 years ago in FuturismWhat Would Have Happened If Obi-Wan Had Confronted Palpatine In Yoda's Stead?
We know that Obi-Wan didn’t want to go to Mustafar to battle Anakin in Revenge of the Sith. He begged Master Yoda to let him go fight Darth Sidious, but we know the outcome of the decision. Yoda went to battle Darth Sidious in Senate chambers, and Obi-Wan went to confront his fallen padawan. What would have happened if Obi-Wan had gone to fight Emperor Palpatine? Would things have ended differently for Anakin and Obi-Wan? Was there ever any hope or point to the choices made by Yoda? I think there is a vast majority of fans who have asked themselves these questions. I certainly have pondered the possibility, and, while there is really no additional information to explain the “What if?” scenario to my knowledge, I think there is a conclusive answer to the question.
Culture SlatePublished 3 years ago in FuturismMark Hamill Has Never Seen This Trailer For 'The Empire Strikes Back' Until Now
The Empire Strikes Back opened 41 years ago on May 21, 1980. Everyone was excited to see the saga continued with Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Han Solo, Chewbacca, C-3PO, and R2-D2. Fans still remembered the destruction of the Death Star, and could not wait to see what the Empire had in store for our heroes. Back in the time long before YouTube and the internet, when movie trailers were only shown in movie theaters (while you were still getting popcorn or using the restroom), many probably did not get a chance to see the trailer for the next installment in the Star Wars saga back when it first came out. Well, it appears that Mr. Mark Hamill himself was one of those people. We always joked that actors usually never saw themselves in the movie they were in because they had already lived it. Well, apparently some never saw the trailer of their movie either. When Stephen Stanton, voice actor of Wilhuff Tarkin in The Clone Wars, Rebels, and The Bad Batch tweeted the rarely seen trailer, Hamill could not help but comment on it.
Culture SlatePublished 3 years ago in FuturismWhat Would Have Happened If Obi-Wan Was The One To Arrest Palpatine?
The attempted arresting of Chancellor, later Emperor, Palpatine by the Jedi Council is one of the most important moments in Revenge of the Sith and the Star Wars universe as a whole. In a lot of ways, it was the last chance the Jedi had to stop Darth Sidious, and it also served as the moment that seals Anakin's fall to the Dark Side and Sidious' victory over the Jedi. Mace Windu, Kit Fisto, Agen Kolar, and Saesee Tiin arrived at the Chancellor's office to arrest the secret Sith Lord, but unfortunately, Sidious proved to be too powerful for the Jedi Masters. Aided by Anakin Skywalker, soon to be Darth Vader, Darth Sidious killed all the Jedi Masters sent to arrest him.
Culture SlatePublished 3 years ago in FuturismWhat It's Like Inside The 'Star Wars' Plane
Flight is a staple of the Star Wars franchise. Whether it be via the Millennium Falcon, X-wings, Star Destroyers, or jetpacks, flight is how the characters get from place to place, especially from planet to planet. We have experienced flight in the galaxy vicariously via games like Rogue Squadron or rides like Smuggler's Run at Galaxy's Edge. Since it tends to involve space for a huge chunk of the stories we have seen, however, airplanes are not much of a thing within the Star Wars galaxy. We see ships flying in the air of various planets' atmospheres, but not really any airplanes. However, that does not mean that there can be no airplanes in our world that are Star Wars themed.
