'Star Wars' Celebration Releases Official Guest List

Who Can We Expect To See

With places slowly opening up again after shutting down for the pandemic, events are also coming back after being gone for one or two years. One of those events that has finally returned after two long years is Star Wars Celebration to be held in Anaheim, California at the Anaheim Convention Center. Star Wars Celebration is now just a few months away and fans could not be any more excited. The celebrity guest list has recently been released, and it is shaping up to be quite the event for Star Wars fans.

StarWars.com announced the guest list a few days ago, and many of our favorite beloved actors will be making an appearance. Currently, the top three celebrity guests will be in attendance include Anthony Daniels, who is better known to fans as C-3PO, Ashley Eckstein, the voice actress for fan-favorite Ahsoka Tano, and Ian McDiarmid, everyone’s favorite Sith Lord and Emperor Palpatine.

Anthony Daniels is known for being the only Star Wars actor to be in all eleven Star Wars feature films. While he did not play C-3PO in Solo: A Star Wars Movie, he still had a small appearance as Tak in the background of one of the scenes. C-3PO had appeared in every single other film to date. Daniels had said that he absolutely loved being a part of the Star Wars universe, and kept coming back as often as he can. He wrote a memoir a few years ago titled I Am C-3PO where he talks about his “journey through the stars” from the very beginning with the film that started it all: Star Wars: A New Hope

Ahsoka Tano was first brought to screen in Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series. She was voiced by Ashley Eckstein who brought the character from one of the fans’ least favorites to become one of their most favorites. Eckstein also reprised her voice-acting role of Ahsoka in the Star Wars: Rebels series. While she did not play Ahsoka Tano in the live-action series, she is still one of the fandom’s favorite actresses (Rosario Dawson plays Ahsoka Tano in live-action). Ashley Eckstein still loves to make appearances at numerous conventions and events. She had also written several books for the Star Wars universe including a story in From a Certain Point of View. She is the proud founder of Her Universe, which creates multi-fandom merchandise and clothing for women. Before this, there were not many fandom brands that made clothing just for women.

Ian McDiarmid had also been in quite a few Star Wars films, although not as many as Anthony Daniels. McDiarmid had played Emperor Palpatine throughout the Star Wars original, prequel, and sequel trilogies. He first portrayed Emperor Palpatine in Return of the Jedi in 1983. He was later introduced in The Phantom Menace in 1999 as Senator Palpatine, a seemingly slightly powerful politician. He quickly climbed the ranks to become Supreme Chancellor, declared himself Emperor, and showed his true colors as Darth Sidious at the end of Revenge of the Sith. It was revealed in The Rise of Skywalker that Emperor Palpatine did not in fact die at the end of Return of the Jedi like everyone thought. He was eventually defeated (we think anyway…Star Wars likes to throw fast ones on the fans!) by Rey. McDiarmid had definitely said he would love to be back to play this iconic villain. It is, of course, feasible that he could return in Obi-Wan Kenobi which is coming to Disney+ on May 25. There has yet to be any confirmation in that regard. Fans could be pleasantly surprised though!

Star Wars Celebration Anaheim 2022 is taking place from May 26- May 29 and will feature many more celebrity guests that have yet to be announced as well as panels and other fun events. More will be revealed in the coming weeks leading up to the event. Fans can bet it will be well worth the wait of two years. So get your Star Wars cosplays ready and stay tuned for more coverage to come before and during the event!
