Our entire lives revolve around the day and the night and there are many lessons that have been put in the differing of the day and the night. Here are some of my own reflections on how the altering of the night and day present their signs to us.

Botany has shown us that plants photosynthesize more in daylight and respire more at night. When they photosynthesize, they produce oxygen and when they respire, they produce carbon dioxide. We humans work during the day and rest during the night. When we work, our bodies demand more oxygen and when we rest, we require minimal oxygen for basal metabolism. Thus the system of plants is designed according to our needs, so that they produce more oxygen for us when we need more, and produce less oxygen when we need less. Therefore, this system of plants can only be set up by Someone Who knows our needs and understands our bodies. This system is extremely compatible with our human needs.

Another point is that our emotions also change at each time of the day. In the morning, we are ready to take on the rest of the day. The light gives us hope to keep going. Night brings in a gloomy atmosphere and induces sleep. Thus, nature has been designed to take care of us at night by putting out the daylight so that we can sleep and avoid the gloomy atmosphere.

The day and night also symbolize the struggle between the good and the bad. It shows us that neither will stay. Rather, both of them will keep battling in this worldly life and that there will come another life where a stable state of good can be achieved. This is only a temporary life where both the bad and the good exist, and thus it also points to another life of stability.

Furthermore, the night and the day keep changing and presenting themselves before us. Therefore, nature is designed as such that it keeps showing us both ways, the way of light and the way of darkness. I gives us the option to take whichever path we desire.

Finally, the changing of the day and night represent the constant struggle between clarity and unclarity. The day represents clarity and the night represents unclarity. This shows that every time we learn something new, further questions are bound to come. Also, this shows that we can never learn everything. Also, it shows us that evil people will always try to ask confusing questions and try to misguide people, while the learned people who are also the scholars of truth will always try to clarify such misconceptions and clear doubts. Additionally, some things will always remain unclear to us (just as night is bound to come). But this doesn't mean that we should give up the quest of research. This is because the day comes back again and so should our quest continue.

Therefore, it's not only the design of the objects around us, but also the mechanism of how they operate that give us lessons to ponder over. Merely studying science in order to understand how these systems work is only one part of what we uncover. The reasons behind why such systems are in place and discovering those reasons present other sides of the picture. And therefore, it is necessary to study philosophy along side the sciences so that the universal lessons can be drawn. Hopefully, this article will encourage the readers to ponder deeply over the natural signs around us and draw conclusions that not only help us answer the big life questions, but also help us discover the how the design of the universe works and how it talks to us and conveys us a message!
