Dear Beloved,

The world has gone mad. Well we always knew that. One minute, I am texting, scrolling, swiping, posting, ordering, navigating, and checking the time. The next, every smartphone is rendered useless. A complete and utter shutdown.

They said it could take up to three weeks to get this fixed. I am panicking because it means there will be so many people I don't be able to contact as they only have a smartphone. Perhaps some people will try their laptops and maybe some others will just go back to basics with a pen and paper.

So many people have no idea what it's like to write with just pen to paper. Everything has gone all digital now. There's no way for some people to pay on phones. It's a huge shock to everyone all over the world.

Though on the brighter side, it may be nice to habe a detox from time to time. Social media is so toxic with the doom scrolling and every company trying to cash in on the fear of missing out. Landlines will be back and the payphones will be good for those that have a landline and spare change.

How we have captured so many moments with a phones, and now we have nothing. Our smartphones were everything all rolled into one: a watch, a camera, a book... it could be anything we wanted it to be. Now we have to go back to the old days where he had something for one use and that was it. I'm amazed my old tape recorder still words and the cassettes still play fine. It's quite an experiance.

People will find anything to complain about it, and it seems the smartphone shutdown seemed to be just the thing. Some people think they did it on purpose to distract us from the elites are planning for: world domination, but that's what every person says. They'll never think of pizza the same way again.

It seems strange not playing the games I like and not being able to pay with my phone. I do pay with cash sometimes because I think there should be an option to do both. Local businesses prefer cash most of the time too. They did warn us this day could happen, but none of us could really prepare for it. It's like the lockdown but instead of locking down the people, it's the tech that's down.

I feel sorry for all the people that are travelling. That's gotta be a whole lot of chaos on it's own. I think when things get back to normal again that we shuld do some travelling or find somewhere to stay again.

Anyway, I hope you are doing okay? I do miss you. You've always had a warm voice. And your compliments are always sincere. I miss the way you make me blush and the quirky texts we send each other. I know one day we will meet again, and when we are going to have a brilliant time! Just like the old Vera Lynn song: we will meet again. Now I've got it stuck in my head.

I'm not even sure how this letter will ever reach you. I don't know your address and I can't remember your email. I guess if it's only smartphones that are done, surely regular texting is on. This is going to take a while, but I will give it a go. I will type this all out through SMS word for word. I hope you will still see it and we can work out a time and place to meet.
