RUMOR: Is Daisy Ridley Returning To 'Star Wars'?

When Could We See Rey Again?

It has been 3 years since we last saw Daisy Ridley’s Rey in The Rise of Skywalker. The 9th mainline Star Wars film brought an end to the Skywalker Saga. Many fans believed this would be the last time we would see Rey, Finn, or Poe in Star Wars. Several of the cast have voiced their displeasure with the sequel trilogy, and it didn’t seem likely any of the cast would be reappearing any time soon. According to a new rumor, however, Daisy Ridley may not be hanging up her lightsaber for good.

The website Giant Freakin Robot recently reported that Daisy Ridley would be returning to Star Wars far sooner than anyone would have thought. Months ago, the website reported that Daisy Ridley was in talks to return to Star Wars and the character of Rey. Now they claim that a trusted and proven source has confirmed not only that Daisy Ridley will be returning to Star Wars, but she has also signed on to be a part of three more Star Wars projects. Although the source did not say what those projects would be, or if Rey would be the main character in any of them.

It is important to note that the website naturally does not confirm who their source is, so the information must be classified as a mere rumor. It is still exciting to think that Daisy Ridley might be returning to Star Wars. However, the site specifically says she is returning for three Star Wars “projects.” This means that she could appear in almost anything, not just film. It would definitely make a lot of sense to see her story continue and see her start her own Jedi Temple. However, there is a world of possibilities for this. The projects in question could also be seasons of a series rather than three films. She could make an appearance in a Disney+ show, lend her voice to an animated project, or be a part of a new Star Wars video game. While it would seem like a trilogy of films would make the most sense, this is a time period Star Wars when anything could happen.

If the rumor is true, this could open up so many possibilities for future casting. Both Oscar Isaac and John Boyega have expressed their disappointment with the final products of the sequel trilogy, and they don’t seem too eager to return. With Daisy Ridley back on board however, we could see the return of Poe and Finn. If this is the start of a new trilogy for Rey post-Rise of Skywalker, then it would almost have to feature Finn and Poe somewhere in the trilogy. This could also be a chance to really let all three of them shine and flourish with their acting abilities in a new trilogy of films, which is something that was arguably not present in the sequel trilogy.

All of this is obviously speculation. Without the website naming the source, it can’t be treated as anything other than a rumor. Furthermore, if the source is not reputable, the information is still subject to a great deal of speculation and scrutiny. The website itself claims they have correctly predicted several news stories that previously broke, but that is not a guarantee the information they have now will be correct. Disney is also notorious for releasing fake information to divert attention from the big reveals and to discover who is leaking information. That being said, it would still be amazing to see Daisy Ridley return as Rey for one more story.
