Great News For Fans Of The Former Jedi Padawan

Ahsoka Tano, lone wanderer, Jedi exile, and former commander of the Grand Army of the Republic. Her story, from Clone Wars, to Rebels, to Mandalorian, has been a long and winding road as she strives to protect the innocent of the galaxy and serve the will of the Force. While she may not describe herself as a Jedi, due to her unjust exile by the Council and the fundamental flaws and corruption of the Order during the Clone War, she truly embodies what it means to be a servant of the light.

Fans of the prequel era were thrilled to see Ahsoka survive the Great Jedi Purge, escape Order 66 with the help of Captain Rex, and begin serving the Rebel Alliance, fighting against the Empire and her former Master before being presumed dead on Malachor. After the fall of the Empire, Ahsoka began operating as Ronin, an outcast warrior defending the meek and helpless from remnants of the Empire, while searching for Ezra Bridger who was lost in the Unknown Regions during the Liberation of Lothal.

This is where we find Ahsoka in The Mandalorian, her live action debut and the first time she was played by the talented Rosario Dawson. Now fans are anxiously awaiting the debut of Ahsoka, one of the many live-action Star Wars streaming series coming to Disney+. Since production of Ahsoka isn't supposed to begin until the first quarter of 2022, many believed that we wouldn't see Dawson in full Togruta makeup again for quite some time. However, new information from a guest on the Fatman Beyond podcast, a show hosted by Kevin Smith, may indicate that Ahsoka will be returning sooner rather than later.

Marc Bernardin, a writer-producer known for Star Trek: Picard, Castle Rock and Treadstone, is preparing to shoot a short film and has Dawson in mind for a role. Bernardin said on the podcast that Dawson's schedule would work to be in his short film, as she is scheduled to be in Manhattan Beach in December "making a [expletive] Star Wars show."

While it was recently reported that Ahsoka would begin production in early 2022, it wouldn't be surprising for the filming timetable to begin in December, and there are also several other possibilities for her working in Manhattan Beach at that time. We know that The Mandalorian Season 3 is currently in production, with numerous cast members teasing fans with "back to work" posts. So far, The Mandalorian has expanded the scope of the show in subsequent seasons. Season 1 was relatively self-contained with the objectives, allies, and enemies all generally being new to the Star Wars universe, introduced through their association with the underworld and the bounty hunting protagonist, Din Djarin, with one small, green exception. Season 2 expanded the universe as Djarin became more of a player in intergalactic events. Din expanded his views on Mandalorians with the arrival of Bo-Katan, traveled to Tython, was saved by Luke Skywalker, and fought side-by-side with none other than Ahsoka Tano.

As production of Mandalorian Season 3 gets underway, with Din Djarin as the new wielder of the Darksaber, there is no telling where we go from here. Grogu is now safely in the arms of Master Skywalker (at least until he meets Ben Solo) and Din's mission of returning the Foundling to his people has been accomplished. Some fans believe that Din Djarin will have little choice but to assist Bo-Katan in retaking Mandalore, the state of which is still widely unknown but it is clear that the reign of the Empire has not been kind to the Mandalorian people. Perhaps during the course of Season 3, the Mandalorian will be forced to call upon Ahsoka Tano, a powerful ally who has history with Din and Bo and has already helped liberate Mandalore in the past.
