Rocket City Moon Kitty
The far side of the moon

Rocket City, a place with plenty of space... Outer space. The actual amount of space here may be a bit squishy with the population growth. An aerospace NASA town where the main college takes that major so seriously, many who started with that engineering had to swap to another type. At Big Spring Park everyone gathers for the rocket launching competition. Cute small rockets line up ready for the go.
A friend group is here to support the two rocket scientists they have in their shared home. Bardie and Charie. There to watch is a nurse named Analace, business technology guru Ned and artist Gretel. Analace loves the whimsy of space and Ned believes it is cool. Gretel is definitely over it. She is annoyed at how much space themed art she makes. There is no connection to the art within her as she is ready to film the rockets.
The countdown begins 321 and the rockets are off. Some explode in the air and others don't have the parachute for landing shoot properly. Those will be low scores. Bardie and Charie's shoot and land well. Gretel thinks about the science in relation to art. They only have one shot at it like a stage, no do over until next showtime. The group starts chatting while they wait for results. "They have a new moon powered light so that the darker side of the moon can be seen instead of just temporary glow sticks," Bardie begins.
"Isn't all to find there is more craters," Gretel inputs.
"There could be moon treasure!" Analace is excited.
"Yeah sometimes rare metals are found," Charie replies.
"At least space is more know than the ocean," Ned nods.
"There is definitely treasure down there too but water pressure," Analace nods.
"The results are in!" An an announcer yells revealing Bardie in second place and Charie fourth. The group congratulates and grabs lunch while watching the video of their rockets.
"Let's head to the space and rocket 🚀 center and actually learn. Ned I know you love the G force rides but maybe some learning too," Charie suggests.
"I thought I was learning each ride! After that we should go look at art in that old shoe factory place for Gretel's sake," he suggests an add on.
"Sure, I did enjoy those mosaics last time, they looked like the galaxy," Bardie agrees. They enjoy their time in the space center and then look at art. Gretel finally is more in her element as she buys a coffee at the shop there.
"Would be cool if you could make art from moon materials," says Charie.
"Let's build a rocker and collect," says Bardie.
"Just as usual? We aren't NASA," she replies.
"We have their knowledge though."
"Don't get too cocky second place." They head home and a few days later the group comes out to see a little rocket with... A car sitting within there with food, water, and a moon light.
"What is the kitty for?" Analace asks.
"Moon kitty," Bardie is matter of fact.
"Huh?" Gretel pictures cats curled up into craters of the moon and is inspired to paint the image.
"Launches and gathers."
"Can you even do that?" Ned asks.
"I bought him."
"Leave it to the engineers to get so caught in their work they have no heart," Gretel replies as she watches them launch the cat on what could be his first and last big ride.
In the mean time everyone resumes work and activities. They head to Dave and Busters together for drinks and games. Bardie oats for it all because he has the terrible confession he lost track of the cat. There is a shadow over the group for a bit until Bardie is called by NASA. He is yelled at and praised all in one. Only because they found the cat and with him in the little rocker was rare moon metals. They flew the cat and his findings back.
Gretel took the cat and named him Rocketeer, the brave kitty man. NASA studied the metals and the story was on the news. Everyone wanted to see Rocketeer and Gretel painted him finding the moon metal. Her cat moon paintings sold for thousands of dollars. She was glad she finally felt inspired in this town that she usually got tired of the theme. She found a new enjoyment for it with her cats on planets painting series.
