Post Scriptum

This visual creation is a reflection of the unthinkable turns of events that occurred in our world in the last months. And the feeling of emptiness that followed. It is also a message to respect and the urge to protect our Mother Earth.

Post Scriptum

This film is a letter to the World or, more precisely, the new World in which we transform ourselves indefinitely.

The last months lived on Earth have been unique, improbable, tragic, unexpected, unthinkable. Things are shifting irreparably without having control over it.

During this lockdown, the whole World had to witness a "New Scenario," the kind that we only see in movies, an apocalypse happening in front of our eyes, leaving us feeling powerless. Suddenly we knew nothing; unexpectedly, we controlled nothing. And if this Pandemic wasn't enough, we had to witness the race crisis in America with the unprecedented murders of innocent black people by white supremacist police. All of this, plus the disastrous consequences resulting from climate change.

What do we actually control today?

Perhaps this veil symbolizes our Mother Earth that escapes us, this Earth that we so much want to dominate and abuse. Our beautiful, colorful Home is represented by this blue veil who changes into differents tones indefinitely until he dies and remains shadeless on the floor with Humankind leaving without nothing left to dominate.

At first, Human is the Veil friend, but moving forward, the strong desire for power and sovereignty will lead to Loss and emptiness. In the end, the veil remains out of control and a non-living thing.

This metaphor dramatizes what could occur if we continue to abuse our Mother Earth and divide Human beings based on their skin colors. The thirst for power and domination will only lead us towards chaos and violence. In the end, the things that we seek to control will control us. History will repeat itself irremediably as it is already happening. And climate change will be irreversible if it isn't now.

So what is left?

P.S: Her beauty, grandiosity, generosity remain. And I hope that people aim to love and protect our Home. I hope that they are honored to be their hosts. I wish that Humans come together, and instead to see their differences, they realize how much they have in common. Our ancestors who fought before us, are looking upon us to carry on their battles for a better and fair society. Let's be on the right side of History and care about our brothers and sisters, our Home, and aim for what is right. It is not too late to be right. Perhaps we still have a chance to be responsible and take action for the preservation of the environment. An environment where our children could still have a good life. Because we have to ask ourselves: "What kind of a world will future generations inherit? Will the air still be breathable? Will our children be safe?

It is still time to change and reconsider the way we live and use planet Earth. Mother Nature loves us and gives us so much for free, so let's love her back and give her the respect she deserves. Let's respect each other and embrace our beautiful diversity.

For a start, we can learn and educate others to apply the 3 R: RECYCLE, REUSE, REDUCE.

" The fact is that no species has ever had such wholesale control over everything on earth, living or dead, as we now have. That lays upon us, whether we like it or not, an awesome responsibility. In our hands now lies not only our own future but that of all other living creatures with whom we share the earth." David Attenborough, Life on Earth.

Post Scriptum was created in Paris, post-Lockdown by Eva Lomby Boiro.
