We don't see any familiar faces on the set alongside them, but we can imagine that some Force-wielder will be in the near vicinity, capable of causing the destruction from afar. Not much is known of Star Wars Episode 8, in terms of confirmed information. The only aspect of the film which has been confirmed, is that Rian Johnson is directing. We just have to wait for the first promotional footage for the film to give us any details about the new entry in the Star Wars franchise.
