You’ve probably heard of the 369 theory or method, a manifestation technique that people claim does produce results.

Practitioners of the 369 method state that a strict routine repeating the intention in this specific numerical pattern aligns personal subconscious energy with the vibrational frequency of the universe.

  1. Write what you want 3 times in the morning.

  2. Write the same thing again 6 times in the afternoon.

  3. Write the same thing again 9 times in the evening.

  4. Repeat every day for 30 days to see results.

I have not tried this method, so I became curious and began exploring the rabbit hole once again. 369 has come up several times in my life. I never considered it much, but looking back, maybe I was given signs.

369 is known as Nikola Tesla’s number, referred to as the ‘key to the universe’. However, the 369 method is a concept rooted in metaphysics rather than formal scientific rules. Yet these numbers did fascinate Tesla, albeit more for mathematical and electrical symmetry reasons rather than psychological manifestation.

So much so that Tesla had compulsive routines involving the number 3; he would walk around the block three times before entering the building and stay in hotel rooms divisible by 3. He was also weirdly repulsed by pearl earrings, and only ate once he figured out the cubic volume of his food.

Tesla was an unconventional genius, producer of wireless energy, inventor of the Tesla coil, and, of course, he laid the groundwork for radio. Some say he had OCD, was autistic, and had serious pattern recognition skills.

So what is so special about these numbers?

On my journey, I discovered Solfeggio frequencies, associated with spiritual healing, growth and realignment of the chakras. Particular hertz do different things. To release the feeling of fear, listen to music at 369 Hz. To repair your DNA, listen to music in the tone of 528Hz.

However, Tesla frequencies, at least the modern interpretation, are not aligned with Telsa, or science. The concept piggybacked Tesla and a medieval hymn in the 1970s, having nothing to do with Tesla’s real work. I suppose people believe this for two reasons: 1) Tesla was interested in frequencies and energy. 2) It’s a placebo effect because you know what these tones ‘do’.

The real evidence sits in what is known as Vortex Mathematics. In mathematics and nature, there is a sequence dubbed the fingerprint of God. Numbers that follow a binary system of doubling. What emerges is a strict pattern that occurs in cell division, computer binary code and geometry.

To find the fingerprint, you double the numbers sequentially, beginning with 1, then 2, then 4, 8, 16, 32 and so on. Once you get to double digits, you add the digital root together: 1+6=7 or 3+2=5. This pattern creates a 3D infinity loop of 1, 2, 4, 8, 7, 5, and it completely excludes the magical numbers in question: 3, 6, 9.

If you were to double 3, it becomes an isolated infinite loop of 3 and 6: 3x2=6, 6x2=12 - 1+2=3, 12x2=24 - 2+4=6. And if you double 9, it only becomes a feedback loop of itself: 9x2=18 - 1+8 = 9, 18x2 =36 - 3+6=9, 36x2=72 - 7+2=9.

369 theorists interpret these numbers as more than just symbols; instead, they have characteristics. This, however, is an idea of pseudoscience numerology, rather than formal mathematics and science.

Mystics view this fascinating skip to mean that 3, 6, and 9 exist outside our physical dimension. They view 3 and 6 as the positive and negative poles of energy, while 9 is closing the loop at the source.

Vortex mathematics invites two groups of people to argue over perspective, interpretation or purpose, yet neither group denies its existence. Therefore, 369 are magical numbers but for a variety of reasons.

Tesla being in the middle of all this has allowed a modern mystic interpretation to take off because it is linked to concrete evidence that cannot be denied. A pattern that is very real and mathematically legitimate becomes linked to pseudo-belief because our minds are built to find meaning, especially when it comes to patterns. There’s a pattern; that must mean something?

This then provides weight to the 369 method, which solidifies the manifestation idea. However, advocates of this method are quick to forget and fail to mention that Tesla’s relationship with 369 was purely electrical and mathematical and had little to do with actual manifestation.

So even though it is attributable to Tesla, this technique really has little to do with Tesla; it is only the interpretation of facts influenced by spiritualism. 369 is a magical number, and given Tesla’s quirky personal habits, I reckon he would be amused but also fascinated by the method. Perhaps he may see some truth in both; both could co-exist.

I myself am an active practitioner, which is why I was interested in this rabbit hole. I have identified with Paganism since I was a teen, and have never denied the allegations of witch.

I know in this community, everything is perspective. Mystics and scientists are always arguing over labels and interpretation of our shared reality. What we heathens understand intuitively is what scientists struggle to quantify. Yet here is 369 coming in to do both.

And I am hooked; I’m going to give this method a go and see what happens. Maybe knowing why or how this all came to be might help? I mean, the worst thing is that nothing could happen, right?

I won't tell you what I'm manifesting. It would be like making a wish and telling someone. Once it's spoken aloud, something changes.

I’ll check back in 30 days.
