New ‘Boba Fett’ Trailer Shows Boba May Have Trust Issues

Understandably So

One of the most anticipated Disney+ shows of this year is The Book of Boba Fett, which will begin streaming on December 29. A new trailer was released that showed some new details about what we might expect to see, including some interesting information that shows that despite Boba Fett working with Fennec Shand (Ming-Na Wen) and the Mandalorian, Boba Fett may not actually be ready to trust anyone in the Star Wars universe. At least not yet.

Boba Fett (Temuera Morrison) was revealed to still be alive in The Mandalorian Season 2, despite falling into the sarlacc pit in Return of the Jedi, and presumed dead. Boba Fett reluctantly teamed up with the titular Mandalorian to help him save Grogu in exchange for getting his armor back from the Mando. It was towards the end of season 2 that we found out that Boba Fett would be getting his own series and saw a brief first look during the end credits of The Mandalorian Season 2 finale. It was revealed that Fennec Shand would be a major character in the series as well. Also in that first look, we see Boba Fett on Jabba the Hutt’s seat, which had previously been held by Jabba’s former right hand, Bib Fortuna after Jabba's death in Return of the Jedi. So, it can be inferred that Boba Fett and Fennec Shand have taken over the palace.

What we do know of The Book of Boba Fett is that it takes place not long after the events of The Mandalorian Season 2 when he and Fennec Shand set off together to take over the territory of Tatooine that was held by Jabba the Hutt with the end goal of becoming the new crime lords of the planet. Along with Ming-Na Wen and Temuera Morrison, Jennifer Beals is joining the cast as a currently unnamed Twi’lek.

Disney debuted the last trailer for The Book of Boba Fett with little over a week left until the series premieres on Disney+. It will be released weekly just like its predecessor, The Mandalorian. In this new trailer, we see Boba Fett and crew embarking on their quest to take over the crime syndicate on Tatooine, which, as any good quest story goes, proves harder than anticipated. This is made even harder with Boba Fett seemingly not even trusting those he encounters on the journey. In fact, the only person he seems to semi-trust is Fennec Shand.

You can view the trailer here:

Of course, in Boba Fett’s quest to take over Tatooine’s underworld, having Fennec Shand as his counterpart in the quest is smart. Fennec Shand (as well as Boba Fett) has a lot of experience in the galactic crime world, as well as, extensive bounty hunter experience. She does not trust anyone either so he has the best possible ally with him to sort out who to trust and who not to, at least from what is shown in the trailer. It is understandable that both of them are wary of everyone's motives in the trailer and that they seem to be having a hard time trusting anyone.

Developer and executive producer Jon Favreau has talked about how their journey to take over the crime syndicate on Tatooine will not be an easy one. Jabba’s death in Return of the Jedi left a large power vacuum with many people vying for the seat of power.

Ming-Na Wen also recently talked about how The Book of Boba Fett has similar vibes akin to The Godfather in the organized crime and gangster feeling of the story. This is very different from any other Star Wars projects. This trailer definitely gives off those vibes, displaying plenty of meetings with all sorts of shifty characters, which are likely to lead to mental as well as physical battles for both Boba Fett and Fennec Shand.

While Disney+ has a number of Star Wars series in the works such as Ahsoka, led by Rosario Dawson, and Obi-Wan Kenobi, starring Ewan McGregor, The Book of Boba Fett is one of the most highly anticipated series since Boba Fett has been a fan favorite for years. This trailer, definitely shows that this series will, hopefully, not disappoint.

The wait is almost over. Tune in to Disney+ on December 29 for the first episode!
