You may have heard about the gravitational influence of the moon on the brain. Perhaps you have experienced or been told stories of family members, hospital, nursing home or mental health patients whose actions change when there is a full moon. There are also benefits to moon bathing that you might not be aware of or are hesitant to pursue.

Bathing in the moon does not mean running around at night sans clothing. It simply is sitting, standing, or lying on the ground and enjoying the healing properties of Earth’s second-largest star. No one ever objects to sunlight because the benefits of the rays of light are widely known. When it comes to the moon, however some people are skeptical. Darkness and the light of the moon are thought to some to represent evil, the occult, and dark magic.

The sun and moon were created by the same Source and there is nothing wrong with benefitting from them both. Most people have house plants and spices they utilize and both come from the earth. No one gives a second thought to taking prescription drugs that are chemicals made in a lab. For some reason when you speak of harvesting the power of the moon some people have thoughts of incantations and sacrificing children at midnight. The sun, and moon along with the plants and spices have all been given to the inhabitants of the earth.

Therefore we should investigate and partake in the natural healing properties that they offer. Just because there are those who misuse the creation for evil does not indicate the Creator does not desire us harness all the good. It’s true that a search of the internet will bring up magic spells related to the moon and that’s just the way of the world. Ayurveda is the traditional Hindu system of medicine, which is based on the idea of bringing balance into bodily systems and uses yogi breathing, diet, and herbal treatments. The moonlight also offers healing properties and exposure to moonlight is said to be beneficial for treating eczema, rashes, heartburn, excessive sweating, hypertension, anger, and inflammation.

You must be true to yourself and your personal beliefs and understand there are different strokes for different folks. There are some cultures where the sun was worshipped but most people today simply enjoy the warm feeling they get from sitting in the sunshine and obtaining feel good endorphins and Vitamin D3. No one I know would accuse anybody else of considering the sun as a diety or worshipping our brightest star just because they benefit from what it offers. The moon should be treated the same way.

One major benefit of the moon is that you can gaze upon this celestial body along with the stars, whereas you cannot look directly at the sun without consequences. Sitting in the moonlight and looking upon at the constellations came be therapeutic. Anything that slows us down will in turn decrease blood pressure and bring about relaxation. The moon is also said the energize precious gems from stones that come from the mountains. This makes sense as the mountains are bathed in moonlight every night that our second largest star can be seen. It’s amazing how the universe was Created to flow together and have things fit like a hand in a glove.

The Moon is one quarter the diameter of the earth and about the size of Australia. It is the Earth's only proper natural satellite and the largest in our Solar System. The moon is the fifth largest satellite in the Solar System and as it orbits the Earth Its gravitational pull produces the tides and slightly lengthens Earth's day. The moon obtains its light by reflecting 3-5 percent of the light from the sun. The next time you are available and the weather permits, consider enjoying the moonlight. You don’t have to be flown to the moon and play among the stars as Frank Sinatra suggests in his hit song. You can simply go outside and enjoy some time with earth’s second brightest star as well as the other constellations.
