When you think of Star Wars, who are the first heroes that come to mind? Chances are that, if you have been following the franchise for a really long time, they might include the likes of Luke Skywalker and Han Solo, portrayed by actors Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford. These roles and these actors became household names thanks to the cultural phenomenon of which they were a part. Luke Skywalker was the classic hero archetype, the young person looking over the horizon and wanting more. Han Solo was the rogue who ended up having a heart of gold. Both of these heroes have been taken in various directions in many stories over the years.

People love to think of Han, Luke, and Leia as "the big three" of the original trilogy. We see them interact with each other at various points throughout that trilogy. Han and Luke probably have more interactions with each other in the original film than in the sequels that followed. (Feel free to correct me on that.) However, in those sequels, it is clear that the characters have become good friends over the years. While we may not see the entire course of the friendship on screen, people have their imaginations, as well as officially licensed stories that fill the gaps.

And of course, those moments of friendship seem to extend behind the scenes. Even if the dynamic is not quite the same as what Luke and Han may have had, Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford seem to have a mutual respect for each other and sometimes recall what it was like working on the original trilogy. Hamill in particular likes to tell jokes as he provides anecdotes. (That probably goes to show that he was a good choice to voice the Joker in animated DC content.) And since Hamill is very active on social media, he does not shy away from getting in on the trends.

One of the trends that has been spreading like fire across the galaxy involves sharing an older photo of oneself alongside a current photo of oneself. The caption for the former would be something along the lines of "How it started," while the latter would have something like "How it's going." On September 12, Mark Hamill posted a tweet of this kind, which you can see below.

The first one appears to be from the filming of the original film, as Luke is in his X-wing pilot uniform, and Han is in his iconic smuggler outfit. Specifically, this would be during a scene set in the Rebel base on Yavin 4. The second photo, in which both Hamill and Ford are sporting facial hair, appears to be from the opening of Galaxy's Edge, known colloquially among some people as "Star Wars Land." One can see the Millennium Falcon ride in the background. It really puts things into perspective, seeing how they were during the filming of the first film, and how they were after finishing up filming their scenes for the sequel trilogy. As Mark Hamill has said before, "Everything has changed but nothing has changed."

It is clear that Hamill has a fondness for memories near and far spent with some of the other actors in the franchise. Since his presence on social media does not appear to be going away anytime soon, people are sure to keep getting more posts like these showcasing some fond memories. And you can be sure that Culture Slate will keep you in the loop regarding some of these activities.
