Our Full Moon in Leo peaks in the morning of January 28th, but you can honor & harness the lunar energies for the few days preceding and following the full moon date.

Keep reading for three soul shifts we can access during the Leo Full Moon in 2021.

If you’re new here - welcome! I’m Sierra, I’m a traveling yoga teacher and modern mystic who lives in a van. Through our community at The Local Mystic, we use soul-centered practices, energetic astrology & communal connection to create joy & freedom for ourselves. I’m so happy you’re here!

So, let’s dive in to our Full Moon in Leo report!

Leo is a fixed fire sign that loves the high energies of creation, play, and expression. Housed in the heart and ruled by the Sun, Leo is all about channeling your unique life force. We’re challenged to own and be in awe of our unique gifts and talents. This month’s full moon is all about letting your inner wild heart shine.

Personalize your New Year’s Intentions

By now you may have a good idea of what goals or intentions you’ve set for yourself this year, but Leo asks you to make it a bit more personal. How can you use your unique gifts and expressions to make your dreams come true?

With the exhaustive wealth of information now available online, it’s easy to turn to your own voice last. Why would we? When there’s an "expert" on everything available with just a quick search. It’s great that we have unlimited access to amazing teachers from across the world; it gives us a chance to learn from each other, study tradition and open community communication. But it does little for our own intuition and sense of self-esteem.

Start by becoming aware of when and how often you’re looking outside of yourself for insight. Avoid jumping to other people for answers first, and ask yourself first. Research is great, but especially concerning matters of the heart, you know a lot more than you think. Place higher trust in your intuition, and your connection with it will grow.

Honor what you want to do

Even writing this, my mind immediately jumps to the word “selfish.” We’re told ~especially women~ that honoring what we want to do is frivolous and self-indulgent. Our lives are dominated by the things we “have to” do or the things we “should” do. We’re molded for productivity. So I challenge you for just one day (perhaps the day of the Leo Full Moon?) to prioritize what you want to do. What excites and energizes you? What makes you happiest in life?

If you’re hesitant over “wasting” a whole day or it’s not easy for you to not be “productive,” reminder yourself often your goals & intentions are just on the other side of this joyous freedom. Your soul wants you to be happy. You deserve to be happy. When you give yourself space to do what lights you up inside, you become aligned with the higher frequencies in the universe - and this puts you closer on to your divine path.

Thoreau said it beautifully in his mid-1800’s signature piece Walden:

“If one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours.”

Embrace your uniqueness

Leo energy is eccentric, fearless, and contagiously confident. Take a moment to recognize what your eccentricities are, and put them center-stage. Recognize if you tend to shame or ignore these hobbies or talents for being “unimportant” or “weird.”

This one has been really resonate for me lately as I’m rekindling my relationship with writing poetry. I used to love it during my teen years, but I let it fall away and completely forgot about it. It wasn’t until I came in to 2021 with a renewed passion for my gifts as a writer that I started to write poetry again. I had neglected the writer in me because suddenly I had taken on these titles as “yoga teacher” and “business owner,” and I couldn’t quite see how my love for writing would fit in to that.

It’s one of my biggest intentions for 2021 to deeply nurture and honor the writer in me, and embracing that unique gift that I have. What’s a special passion or talents that’s all yours? And how can you nourish that?

Enjoy the Leo Full Moon of 2021 my dears!
