RETURN TO PARAGON
RETURN TO PARAGON By Sally Champlin [email protected] CHAPTER ONE IN THE BEGINNING “There weren’t always dragons in the Valley,” his grandfather told him when they went hunting that day. Fascinated, the boy asked him, “What do dragons look like, grandpa?” His grandfather smiled and thought a bit. Then he said, “You’ll know them when you see them.”

“The nitrogen in our DNA, the calcium in our teeth, the iron in our blood, the carbon in our apple pies are all made in the cores of collapsing stars. We are made of the stuff of stars.” Carl Sagan
Judith IsidorePublished 2 years ago in Futurism9 Things You Didn't Know About R2-D2
To most casual viewers of the Star Wars movies, R2-D2 is just the cute little droid, a mascot of the saga, and a toy salesman's dream. However, under the dome of that little astromech lies an entire lifetime of secrets and experiences that most who encounter him are unaware of. The little droid was allegedly named after Walter Murch shouting out “Reel 2, Dialogue 2” during the sound mixing stage for George Lucas’ American Graffiti. Lucas, who was writing the script for Star Wars at the time, included the reference in his screenplay. Influenced by both the robots from the 1972 sci-fi movie Silent Running and the two peasants from Kurosawa’s 1958 Hidden Fortress, R2-D2 (or Artoo) would become a favorite of cinema-going audiences and an instantly recognizable icon of the 20th century. But just how much does anyone know about that plucky little droid…?

Culture SlatePublished 2 years ago in FuturismOpinion: An Objective Look At The 'Star Wars' Sequels - What Didn't Work For Me And What Would Have Made Them Better
There are many Star Wars fans who have a terrible taste in their mouth and strong emotions concerning the sequel trilogy. There are also those who love the sequel trilogy and find them to be the best. For the longest time, I was a part of that first group. However, I have recently started to notice that there are not that many things wrong with the sequel trilogy, and it is not all negative.

Bounty hunters have been part of Star Wars lore from the beginning when Greedo confronts Han in the cantina in A New Hope. It was made more explicit in The Empire Strikes Back when Vader hired a group of bounty hunters to track down Solo and has been a fixture ever since. Fennec Shand is one of the newer additions to the ranks of bounty hunters. She first appeared in The Mandalorian at the end of 2019. Credit to Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni, and Brian Matyas for Shand feeling like an established character in her first appearance and quickly becoming a fan favorite.

Recently, I wrote an article listing a few stories that took me by surprise. In the article, I talked about how sometimes I would select a book to read after doing a great deal of research, and at other times I would select books blindly and start reading them without knowing anything about the story or its characters. When I do the latter, I get to find treasures in unexpected places and that was what the last article was all about. Nevertheless, in situations when I take care of my reading after performing extensive research into the books, their authors, and their stories, there is no assurance that I will end up loving the tale. There have been a couple of instances where I could not get into the story even after multiple attempts and finally realized that the story was not for me.
Kaumudi SinghPublished 2 years ago in FuturismThe Twisted History Of The Sith Lord Of Betrayal
When people talk about George Lucas's Star Wars, the main focus is on the central trio, Luke, Han Solo, and Princess Leia. As the saga continued in its prequels and most recent trilogy, it explored the ripple effects brought on by the leading trio. Upon first glance of gamers in 2004, the highly acclaimed and loved Knights of the Old Republic seemed to be an excuse to enter into an already known world and nothing new needed to be explored. Little did we realize, the story was far from over. A derailment from the original story, KOTOR presented gamers with what its developers had hoped for since its initial creation: something more than a game, but a philosophical deconstruction of Lucas's magnum opus. As KOTOR was famous for its titular characters, the first game introduced us to Darth Revan, a former Jedi Knight turned Sith Lord then Jedi Knight once again. Perhaps the series' tour de force was the creation of Kreia, otherwise known as Darth Traya.
