The Inherent Intelligence of Faith

"Faith is a like a cupcake"

Faith is the cornerstone of all belief systems. A faith that there is a Divine being, creator if you will, who has orchestrated and is orchestrating this whole earth and human existence experience. Nonbelievers like to mock and poo poo Faith, throwing up their misguided belief that science is always right! Proof! They say, I want proof. I want double-blind studies that show I AM RIGHT. And they mock people who know and have faith. When in fact, people who have strong feelings of faith truly understand and grasp a higher sense of intelligence in themselves and the intelligence of nature (aka science), the Divine/Creator. People of faith have a much deeper understanding of how things work, and their trust in their faith only exemplifies this trust.

I’m going to give a simple example. A cupcake. A person of faith can see a package of flour, sugar, eggs, oil, flavoring, etc. -- all the ingredients to make a good tasty cupcake and they will KNOW; they have FAITH that the ingredients will make a tasty delicious cupcake. They don’t have to make the cupcake; they don’t have to eat the cupcake, they KNOW and have FAITH that any cupcake made with those ingredients is going to be delicious. A non-believer will look at those ingredients and say, “Well, I don’t know. I have to make it and taste it first and then we will see. I need to then share it with others to see if they think it is tasty. Tests must be done!” They do not have the intelligence of faith to recognize that they do not have to make and eat the cupcake to know it will be good.

That is a simplistic view, but it is something to think about. A person of strong FAITH will look around the world and see the beauty and understand that it did not just happen randomly; they know there is DIVINE power at work and they will appreciate and be grateful for it.

Another example I like to use is an orange. You can pick up an orange and it has this gnarly rough unpleasant texture around it. But when you peel it or cut it open, it is full of tiny capsules of juice and fiber and seeds which not only taste incredibly good and are enjoyable for humans to partake of an is healthy, but it is also designed to ensure its own continuation. The seeds are not tasty and the peel is not tasty, but they provide the means for the orange to continue its own life while making our life more enjoyable. This is not random, this is an example of something that was designed FOR us to enjoy and also reap health benefits from. This is not a product of evolution. On top of that it was designed to provide its own survival and continuation. If you eat a seed (accidentally), you will defecate it out in a nice little fertilized package, and if you throw the peels and remnants away, they will rot, again providing nutrients for the seeds to take hold and continue its life.

I think one thing we can all agree on is that Albert Einstein was one of the most scientifically influential and one of the most intelligent humans to walk the earth. He was also a strong believer in a higher Universal power, and there are numerous quotes from him affirming this. Einstein was NOT a believer in a higher power, i.e., God, however. Don’t misconstrue my words. But he did have faith in the Universe and understood that as humans we cannot comprehend many things presented to us. One of my favorite quotes from Einstein is:

That deep emotional conviction of the presence of a superior reasoning power, which is revealed in the incomprehensible universe, forms my idea of God.

A person of strong faith understands that these are gifts and not just evolution and randomness.

Don’t misunderstand, science is valuable, but science has been known to be fatally harmful especially when it is tied in with human ego. It was not that long ago they it was a “known” fact that the world was flat; not even 100 years ago, lobotomies were being performed; leeches were applied to sick people to suck the disease out of them, and in today’s world they are many medications in which the side effects are often worse than the actual disease. The list goes on and on. When our human ego messes things up, we are almost always provided with the knowledge (sometimes through science) to rectify the situation.

As humans, we are intellectually very inferior compared to the intelligence of the cosmos. Our ego rules our lives. We are given knowledge, think we created it, and become arrogant and intolerant because we think we are RIGHT and there can’t be a God. We do not create knowledge; we are given knowledge; the earth and all of its inhabitants did not just happen randomly; there is Divine will everywhere we look. Even in our lexicon, we do not say, “I made this knowledge.” We say, “I was given this knowledge.” Our soul always knows what our ego tries to defy. When we try to usurp Divine Will and force our own ego and “free” will onto situations, that is when faith falters and things go awry. The Divine has provided us with knowledge and intellect, and when you pair that with INTELLIGENT FAITH, as humans we can progress and ascend into so much more than we are.
