A letter from a stranger

What you are about to read, you will not believe, but I can assure you that it’s absolutely true.

I received a mysterious letter many years ago, and just like the one you received today, it instructed me to attend the office of Barker and Dean where you are now. They are the firm of solicitors who have dealt with our concerns for many years. They know of only three things; the money, the properties and the box.

They should already have transferred the money into your bank account and the properties should also now be in your name. This is the first part of your inheritance. The money should total around twenty thousand dollars; It could be more, it could be less, it depends on what opportunities arise before my death.

I realise that you’re asking yourself who I am and how I know you. All you need to know right now is that I died twenty-two years ago on the day you were born. I arranged the letter summoning you to the Solicitors offices, the transfer of money and property and an instruction that you were taken to the vault and given the box in which you found the letter you are currently reading. You may have noticed other items contained within the box but I urge you to read this letter in full before you investigate further. A danger you cannot conceive lies within.

The box contains several diaries, a little black book containing addresses, names, dates and other information, an old leather-bound book and a velvet bag. We obtained the leather book hundreds of years ago and its importance is such that you absolutely cannot tell anybody that you have it. You categorically cannot tell anybody what is in the book or what it does. It is something we shouldn’t have. It isn’t ours. It was stolen and the owner still seeks it. It is a forbidden object containing forbidden rituals; rituals that rail against nature.

The Solicitors do not know the contents of the box, only that it must be passed on. When the time comes for you to pass the box forward, you must do as I did. Return the box to the vault and arrange the transference of your accumulated assets and wealth to the new owner. You will tell the Solicitors the name of the new owner, their address, bank details and the date they are to be sent the letter which instructs them to attend their office.

Before I explain further, you must understand the gravity of what you have in front of you. There are no parlour tricks here, no toys or games, only power we could never begin to understand. What is contained in the book must only be used for one purpose. In the small black notebook, you will read about times when that which is contained in the leather book, was abused. Let these warnings ensure you only use the ritual once and for the one reason below.

The diaries each belong to a person who has inherited this box through the years. We have lived many lives. Rich, poor, civilised and savage. The ritual in the leather book makes sure we will never have to live as we once did. We can finally be free of all that. Read the diaries, oldest first. Follow the thread, understand why we did what we did. Become more than we could have ever been before. Once you understand our line, who you were, perform the ritual and discover who you’ll be. Everything you need is in the velvet bag. Follow the instructions in the book to the letter. It revealed to me my next life; your life. It showed me your life up until this day. You’ll see your next life but be sure to choose well the moment to pass on the box and all it contains.

What you have read, you will not believe, but I can assure you that it’s absolutely true. Because, you were me.
