Orbital ATK's plan is to begin building its Voyager station in 2026, giving it about a year to build before it can host 2027 guests. Travel looks more ambitious with plans for a Voyager station hotel in space and could open in 2027. The team behind Voyager has hinted at a future partnership with SpaceX's Starship System to take the hotel to space, but we know the space station will be open to guests by then.

Voyager Station appears to consist of 24 large, interconnected, pressurized modules. The first commercial space hotel, the Voyager Station, is envisioned for 280 guests and 112 crew members by the Orbital Assembly Corporation, a construction company based on John Blincow's idea. It is the company's first major project, and it will have artificial gravity.

A rotating ring shape is formed, which gives the station a gravity equivalent to one sixth that of the Earth. According to the construction company Orbital Assembly Corporation, which describes itself as the "largest space company in the world," construction of the first hotel in space called Voyager Station will begin in 2026 and the first passengers will visit the hotel in 2027. When the hotel opens, it will have rooms for 440 people.

The new station, which will be used by the National Space Agency for research purposes, will include a residential ring that will serve as a luxury hotel for space tourists. According to the Gateway Foundation, due to gravity of the space stations, guests can expect a similar experience to a visit to a posh hotel or restaurant that can compete with the best venues on Earth. The villas on the space station will be up to 30 square meters in size and each will have a bed for two people and a private bathroom.

The Orbital Assembly Corporation (OAC), a space company made up of NASA veterans, intends to begin construction of the first luxury space hotel in 2026, which will be made available to the public in 2027, according to CNN Travel. Work on the world's first space hotel outside low Earth orbit, which will include a restaurant, cinema, spa and rooms for up to 400 people, is due to begin in 2025. Construction of the space hotel will begin in 2026 and the hotel is scheduled to open to the public in 2027. The hotel accepts reservations for a three-night stay at a cost of $5 million.

The company plans to build Voyager Station with all the amenities you would expect from a luxury resort, including restaurants, entertainment, gyms, spas and shopping. The Voyager Station will accommodate 280 guests and, according to Travel & Leisure, includes a restaurant, a bar and a gym. While the number of rooms is yet to be confirmed, newspapers report that the hotel will have rooms for 280 guests and space training will be required for 112 crew members.

A company is planning to build the first ever space hotel with divine views of Earth. The hotel will be placed in low Earth orbit (LEO) 200 miles above the Earth's surface, and will be the size of a large private jet cabin. The 500 square meter luxury villas can be rented for a week or a month and can accommodate 16 people, three bathrooms and cooking facilities.

We first heard about the first space hotel with a divine view of Earth in 2019, when a company developed a plan to build a hotel in space itself. In 2019, the California-based Gateway Foundation announced plans for a cruise ship-style hotel that will float through the earth's atmosphere a day. The hotel, known as Von Braun Station, is scheduled to open in 2027.

Fast forward a few years and the cruise-ship-style hotel, which could hover in the Earth's atmosphere a day, has a new name: Voyager Station and it is being built by Orbital Assembly Corporation, a new construction company headed by former pilot John Blincow, now the director of the California-based Gateway Foundation. Depictions of what the hotel would look like suggest that the interior would not be dissimilar to an earthbound luxury hotel, but with spectacular views from beyond. In a recent interview with CNN Travel, Blincows explained that due to COVID-related delays the Voyager Station construction is now scheduled to commence in 2026 with space travel a reality by 2027.

The hotel restaurant will serve fresh food thanks to the bi-weekly delivery of space classics such as seaweed and freeze-dried ice cream, the company said. Most of the four paying guests will be private space tourists at least for now, but Orion Span will be available to a variety of customers, including governments and space agencies, added Bunger. As demand increases, Orion will launch additional modules to connect to the original core outpost, he said.

Several other companies, including Axiom Space and Bigelow Aerospace, plan to launch commercial space stations in Earth orbit in the next few years to meet the expected demand from space visitors, national governments, researchers and private industry. Space tourism is no longer the stuff of science fiction; it just comes around the corner. Hot on the heels of space tourists, at least one of the company's plans could be realised in four years.

The golden age of space tourism piqued the interest of visionaries such as Richard Branson and Elon Musk. But it is Musk and former pilot John Blincow and his team who hope to become partners in the near future. Those of us who are making big travel plans for the aftermath of a pandemic may want to consider the last frontier as a destination.

According to the website, Orion Span, who founded Orion Space Technologies, wanted to open a luxury space hotel called Aurura Station in 2022, but the company closed and returned customer deposits.
