High-Tech Annihilation

Rough extract

The ground was ashy but scintillating. The silence magnificent but unbearable. No more bustling city or loud crowds. No more vibrant ads or salesmen spurting on about purchases. The girl was here but the city gone; I’m not exactly sure that this is what I wanted but it is my new life.

Was it possible to be free of the system and keep the urban living? Was it even conceivable after all this?

A blank earth meant opportunity, knowledge, doors that could smack you in the face… but then again, this was going to be fun. Yeah… I said fun. This was going to be my life’s journey not a social experiment.

Though… this optimism could be that I never tasted that eternal feeling of trepidation. Temporary suffering was a form of entertainment after all. Knowing that it would soon end made the suffering all the more dramatic and good for sharing; but! What about the thousands that experienced suffering as a norm? Those who could never imagine a world without it; those who were robbed of enjoyment and hope, where suffering was every day. Does fun become the hope that keeps them sane, or does it become their evil? A drive to destroy and continue the cycle. Does the suffering become normal? Can I be normal after all… Looking around I felt excited and exasperated. Here I was free of Propaganda, taxes and bills. The only responsibility I currently had was surviving, building would come; I would either Bloom within the weeds of nature or give up and dry up. The city was a cold shadow of its former self; technology was done for, none of it worked, well at least for the moment. It had been 8 months since the big annihilation and the public just snapped. They were tired of living by the clock… who wasn’t… And the children… That was just too much, it pushed the whole world to the edge.

The surviving rich lived on their own time; about 53% of the western population realised they didn’t wana play the game anymore. The rest were waiting for some kind of law to come save them, they were the sheeple. Funny, in a sense our ancestors did all those years of work to bring electronics to life just for it to be destroyed by life; what a beautiful cycle. 2060 the end of the industrial world brings forth a new era. Historical.

At one point it was chaotic but right now we were dealing with the aftermath. No television, social media or gaming… Fifa players were freaking out, hahahahahaha, for god’s sake, we couldn’t get any type of machinery to work! People were riding horses for the first time. Banks closed down, no way to keep track of the money they didn’t have. The public basically just ransacked every place and forced the fragmented government to hand over the rest. It was some sort of sorcery and genius vengeance; they had no choice but to give away all the cash for the remaining citizens to survive. Though at this point even cash was almost useless. The cops fucked up and killed the rebels, so the rest of us chose freedom. In this case freedom was the only way to survive and boy do we know how humans love surviving. The government ruling was gone like imperial Rome.

The sheeple were lost without the lights, they didn’t understand that the bulb was the true perplexity, the genie with no ethics. The sheeple believed that the bulb would guide them, but I knew something they did not, that we could see in the dark. Nonetheless I still ponder over the question. Is it better? You know, a world without technology? Depending on me and my skills to make my journey worthwhile? Heavens yeah! Some will tell you the opposite but they’re pussies, Naw leeches! Pussies could take hard-ships and over time beautifully snapback, but leeches! They suck your energy to survive. Relying on the system to revive their pointless lives. Leeches sucking on other leeches, the definition of a sheeple; followers following followers.

But I didn’t blame them, the true chaos came from the vampires, they were using the pointless to thrive; And not the attractive mysterious Edward/Blade types, I’m talking creepy old fart vampires. Real life human… well barely human, human cannibals. The ones who started this annihilation.
