Hi there reader! Let me introduce you to Greece, it is a small country in the bay of of the Mediterranean sea. But, do not let its size fool you. It was once a great place to explore philosophy, art, sciences and mythology.

So let's get familiar with what we are here for the Greek Mythology.

Preliminary knowledge :

So, at the beginning there was nothing, but chaos, just vast expanse of nothingness. Out of which, the Earth formed, Gaia (have you ever heard the phrase, "Find order in chaos"?) and even the sea, Pontus. But, Gaia started feeling lonely, gazing into nothingness, so she forced a blue protective dome over her, Ouranos. After that Ouranos and Gaia had a set of triplets who had a hundred hands, the Hecatoncheires. Ouranos was disgusted with their looks, so he casted them them to Tartarus, another primordial god and also the darkest pit on Earth. Gaia was not much happy though, but she still tried to make out with him and they had another triplets, the elder Cyclopes, which were also casted into Tartarus because of their looks, thereafter they had many monstrous kids, until the twelve titans, the first humanoid creatures. Ouranos had casted all other kids into Tartarus.

After that they did not have any kids, and he did not visit Gaia and the titans often. He was very short tempered when he did. He used to hang out with Nyx and Hemera, the night and the day. Gaia slowly turned bitter and wanted her revenge, so she planned a murder. She asked her twelve kids to murder their father and promised whoever did, would get to be the king of Cosmos. The youngest one of all, Kronos agreed. He told her he would do it, so Gaia made the first weapon for him, a scythe. Later he recruited four of his siblings namely, Iapetus, Hyperion, Koios and Krios.

They planned his murder.

When Ouranos visited Gaia, she acted different and acted to give another chance to their relationship, when he was feeling all good, the five brothers sprang out and the four held him, while Kronos held the scythe up high. But, just about he was about to kill him, Ouranos cursed him, " If you kill me, your kids will overthrow you the same way." After that Kronos, castrated him.

Kronos

After the murder Kronos became the king of cosmos, and awarded his four brothers, each a corner of the Earth. Iapetus got the west, Krios got the north, Hyperion got the east and Koios got the south.

After that there were many other titans, and beings. Kronos's reign was known as the golden age, for everything flourished, except for one thing, he was scared to marry someone. He was scared because, of the curse. While all other titans raised families, he was single and lonely. After many years he was persuaded that the curse had worn off and married Rhea, the titan of Motherhood. Soon they had a child, Hestia, she was perfect but there was one catch she was not a titan, she was a god. Kronos afraid of the curse, swallowed her whole. Rhea was surely enraged, but she gave him multiple chances, but the same happened each time with Demeter, Hera, Hades, Poseidon. At last Rhea took her last child Zeus to Crete and raised hi there, while she made Kronos swallow a boulder, the perfect size and shape.

When Zeus was grown up, Rhea told him about his siblings and his task. Zeus went to Mount Othrys, the titans palace and became a cup bearer. He maintained his reputation and waited for the right time to make an attempt of retrieval. One fine day, Zeus made such a concoction that after Kronos drank it he vomited everything. After that Zeus retrieved his siblings and fled the palace along with them.

Zeus went to Tartarus to gather forces and met the Cyclopes, who gave him his thunderbolt, Poseidon his trident and Hades his helmet of terror Soon, there was a big war for a long time, but some theories suggest it was Kronos who made it look that long, because for was the titan of time. In the last phase the gods tore Mount Othrys half and won.

Zeus punished all those who had sided with Kronos and casted them to Tartarus. When it was turn of the lords of the four corners, Atlas said, " You fool, it their presence that keeps the sky from falling, if they are not there, the sky will crush everything to bits." Zeus said to the titan General, " Oh, i have a good idea for that, too. Atlas you always boast about your strength, so you will hold the entire sky by yourself." After that Zeus somehow managed to put the sky's weight onto Atlas's shoulder. Then there was a garden, in which Atlas's daughters the Hesperides (evening nymphs), protected the golden apple tree, that was gifted to Hera from Gaia in her marriage with Zeus. The garden was in front of Atlas, so that he would not let the sky fall down, for if he did so, even his daughters would die.

After their victory, the gods ascended to the highest mountain, Mount Olympus and reigned.
