The day is almost upon us when the Kenobi Disney+ series will finally be hitting our screens and apps within the coming weeks. Fans have been waiting for such a long time to see the story of what happened to the exiled Jedi Master after the events of Revenge of the Sith but before A New Hope. Starting out as a movie and ending up a series, this story is one that many have long waited to be told. A lot has been speculated, discussed, and reviewed about the series and now it seems that we are getting more and more of a look behind the curtain with a new exclusive sneak peek of the soon to be released Disney+ series.

This particular clip shows Uncle Owen and Obi-Wan Kenobi talking about Luke Skywalker. The tensions seem to run high between the former Jedi Master and Owen as they discuss Luke’s future. Kenobi reminds Owen that eventually Luke must be trained if he is to defeat Darth Vader and the Emperor while Owen wants to protect the boy from everything out there in the dangerous galaxy. It’s fascinating to see how two people who care about Luke view the situation differently. Neither right nor wrong, just different points of view. Something this series will hopefully explore as the story progresses.

Kenobi takes place in an interesting time. The Empire is growing in power every day. Luke Skywalker is still a young child and he won’t be a Jedi Knight any time soon. In the clip, Owen thinks Kenobi only cares about Luke’s Force potential and not protecting him. It is an interesting thought of whether or not Luke showed any potential Force wielding ability. Something that he must have been keeping an eye on as Luke continued to grow and develop. Owen on the other hand has rightful suspicion of Kenobi, fearing what might happen to Luke if he were to be trained in the ways of the Force. A fear that his nephew will go down the dark path the same as his father did.

It would make a lot of sense for Owen to be unsure of Obi-Wan, especially if he was told what happened to Anakin. So of course he would very much worry about what could happen to his young nephew, especially if he entered a strange and dangerous path of becoming a Jedi with many risks.

One of the big hopes of the Kenobi show is for the series to contextualize a lot of what we know about A New Hope. Make us see things now from a whole different angle. To see the nuances between Owen and Kenobi, as well as what life was like for the former Jedi Master waiting on the sands of Tatooine as he prepared to one day train the person he thought would be the savior of the galaxy. A fascinating time to explore, and will very much add much to what happened in between Episode 3 and 4 of the Star Wars saga.

The Kenobi series is slowly approaching and with it all the hype that this series entails. It has been a long time in the making, starting off as a movie, and now a Disney+ series. So many fans are building up there anticipation that this series is gonna have a lot of pressure to deliver. However, if this clip is anything to go buy it most likely will.

We will soon see how the rest of the series plays out, and how this story contributes to the mythology of Star Wars and the galaxy far, far away.
