Could We See Cal Kestis Cameo in Kenobi?

When Cal Kestis made his Star Wars debut in the video game Jedi: Fallen Order, fans fell in love with him and have since been eager to see him brought to life in live-action. With a second Jedi: Fallen Order game on the horizon and Kestis set to make his return, the question is where could he fit into the universe being built through Disney+? I am sure I’m not alone in this thought, but a fitting place for him to pop up for his live-action debut could surely be the highly anticipated Obi-Wan Kenobi series. With Obi-Wan confirmed to be traveling throughout the series, there is speculation as to who he could run into throughout his journeys. Even Rupert Friend, who will be playing the Grand Inquisitor, recently stated that it will have “wonderful cameos,” leaving fans wondering if this could be the perfect chance to debut the Jedi?
Jedi: Fallen Order takes place five years after the events of Revenge of the Sith, and before the events of Obi-Wan Kenobi, which is set 10 years after Episode III. This means that depending on the game’s sequel's setting and what happens to Cal, he will be out and about with his crew. Having dealt with inquisitors already, and having his own run-in with Darth Vader, Cal could find himself hunted just as Obi-Wan would be. As the first game prominently features Inquisitors, Cal would be helpful in explaining to Obi-Wan just who these apprentices of the Sith Lord are. He might even assume that Obi-Wan is alive, as in the game there is an Easter egg where a recorded message from him is heard about the downfall of the Republic. Cal could be embarking on a journey to find the hidden Jedi.

With recent shows such as The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett, Star Wars fans have seen some of their favorites brought from the animation world to live-action. Characters such as Cad Bane, Bo-Katan, and Ahsoka have all been brought to the “big screen,” so to speak, leaving room for many more to come. This seems like the direction Lucasfilm is going as recently Bryce Dallas Howard teased surprises in store for fans of The Clone Wars animated show in the upcoming Ahsoka series. Even Obi-Wan Kenobi series is following suit by bringing in live-action adaptations of the Inquisitors from Rebels. As Screen Rant mentioned, it would not be difficult to bring Cal Kestis into the world of live-action due to the casting choice for the character. Cameron Monaghan is already an established actor, and a great one at that, making the turnaround much less complicated than designing an entire alien costume for characters like Ahsoka or Cad Bane.
Let’s also not forget that the Star Wars brand has already opened its arms to welcome Cal Kestis. As seen in the trailer, Obi-Wan Kenobi will deal with the Inquisitor base, which is featured Jedi: Fallen Order at the very end. We all saw the Easter egg in The Book of Boba Fett when Mando got his new ship from Peli Motto, who had a BD droid roaming around, which fans of the hit game remember fondly. Also, Cal Kestis's lightsaber has been revealed and released for purchase at Galaxy’s Edge, inviting the actor to check it out and take pictures with it, giving fans a taste of what might be on the horizon.
This cameo could also work for Cal’s story in general, as we can assume his life is set to end before the Rebel Alliance and Luke Skywalker really get rolling on their fight against the Empire. I find it difficult to believe that more and more Jedi survived Order 66 just to hide out during the fight for the galaxy. One might think these forgotten Jedi see the Rebellion as the spark they need to avenge their fallen friends. After spending many hours with Cal Kestis it is clear he does not turn away from a fight. Cal's appearance in Obi-Wan Kenobi would work perfectly, as he can still see his end around the time of the beginning of the original trilogy. Who knows, maybe it could even work as an introduction to the character in live-action to be used in another show such as Andor, which is set only a few years after Obi-Wan Kenobi in the timeline. All that said, this is of course up to the creatives at Lucasfilm who will ultimately decide if and where Cal could show up in live-action, which very well could be anywhere.
While there is no real indication that Cal Kestis will be making his way onto our screens via Disney+ soon, like the Rebellion we can only hope!

It Only Took One Minute.......
It only took a minute. I was sitting at the computer in my office when the phone rang. I picked up the receiver and then laid it down my desk as I went to find the student who the call was for. Within seconds I was back at my desk, ready to resume typing, when I heard the student yelling obscenities at me for listening in to his call through the handset that was still lying on the desk.
