Could Kanan Jarrus' Backstory Be Covered In The Bad Batch?

Could Season 2 See The Return Of Caleb Dume?

Kanan Jarrus, formerly known as Caleb Dume, was a survivor of Order 66, a member of the Rebel cell known as the Spectres, and a major character in Star Wars Rebels. We’ll avoid spoiling any of his journey, but you can be assured it involved becoming a Jedi Knight and training a Padawan of his own. He made a surprise appearance during The Bad Batch, where we saw his master killed by her clone troopers. The time between then and Rebels can be further explored by reading the Expanded Universe, which is home to a wide variety of well written books and visually stunning comics.

Is there still a possibility that Jarrus, or Dume as he went by, could make another appearance in Bad Batch? Could he return and have his story fleshed out, showing how he became who he is at the start of Rebels? Is there anything else in store for the character, anything at all? Remember, this is purely speculation on our parts, all of which is subject to a grain of salt.

Since the next part of Kanan’s life is portrayed in the novelization, A New Dawn, as taking place almost 14 years after the end of the Clone Wars, one could easily fit in a new chapter of his life prior to the events of the book. Thus, Kanan Jarrus is free to show up in The Bad Batch, without any major concerns for continuity problems. And why not? Multiple fans have noticed that Bad Batch seems to be somewhere in-between Clone Wars Season 8 and Rebels Season 0.5, so really it wouldn't be too much of a stretch to see him at least one more time.

That raises another question, what would he do and how would he react to the Batch? It can’t be good, it would take time for Kanan to trust clones again, and he still didn’t by the time Rex shows up in Rebels. So, we can rule out a friendly relationship with Hunter and crew, unless a miracle happens. Of course, that doesn’t rule out Hunter wanting to help Jarrus. In fact, it could make for an interesting story on its own.

So, what would happen if they were to meet up? Hunter would probably feel guilty about Order 66, and would try to make it up to Kanan Jarrus. Kanan would reject them on sight, if they even actually see each other, forcing Hunter to help him indirectly. This would probably be accomplished through Omega or some other proxy, and Jarrus would not know it was the Bad Batch helping him. It could be a smaller segment of the much larger Season 2 plot. What would that plot be? We don’t know yet, but it would certainly involve the Bad Batch having to deal with the Galactic Empire, and a slightly older Omega.

Everything you just read was of course, pure speculation on our part. We don’t know if and when Kanan Jarrus will return to The Bad Batch. Everything should be taken with a grain of salt, and not as something that is actually going to happen. We'll just have to wait and see what Season 2 of The Bad Batch has in store for its central crew of characters, the multiple individuals who already cameoed, new and exciting characters, and the fanbase in general.
