A Fun Scenario To Think About!

Marvel's What If... has been quite an interesting experiment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), showing us various possibilities in an infinite universe that makes up the Marvel multiverse. Disney's other major franchise Star Wars has never really had a "What if" show outside of the Star Wars Infinities graphic novels and the Halloween shorts like LEGO Star Wars Terrifying Tales. That has not stopped fans from wondering how a "What if" story or series set in the galaxy far, far away could look like. Because of that, some creative minds have created their own Star Wars What If… poster just out of pure love for the saga.

The poster presents a fascinating scenario. What if Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Ahsoka Tano all became Imperials. In this alternate setting, Obi-Wan would become an officer, Ahsoka an inquisitor, and Anakin still becoming Darth Vader, however with out the injuries he sustained at Mustafar. A good mix of art and photoshop created this stunning poster with an interesting story of our favorite Clone Wars heroes joining the Empire. It does make one wonder just what would happen if Star Wars ever did a What If…, what would the story be about?

A Star Wars What If… story or series is a fascinating concept. However, depending on where things go one can completely change the entire direction of the saga. The idea of our Clone Wars trio joining the Empire is a fascinating one to be sure. There are many directions that one can take the story, not unlike a Dark Side and Light Side ending in many Star Wars games. There is an infinite amount of twists and turns that could completely shake the entire galaxy. This fascinating flux of chaos without regard for canon would make for a fun storytelling.

As depicted by this poster, the story of our heroes being villains is fun to think about. Seeing the people we love turn into the thing very they fought against is an interesting concept to ponder on. We have already seen this happen with Anakin. However, it is a unique situation to see characters like Obi-Wan and Ahsoka, who had always remained on the side of good, turn dark. It would also be a chance to see alternate timelines where Anakin never fell to the Dark Side or if he was not critically injured on Mustafar and was able to achieve his full potential, but as a Sith. There are infinite possibilities to think about, and fans would just love to see them play out.

The Star Wars Universe has always stayed true to its canon, almost stubbornly so. Everything connects in some ways and contributes to the overarching story. The grand narrative of Star Wars is always something that is important to the franchise. However, breaking from it every now and then will allow for more creative freedom and some fascinating storytelling. Sometimes, it is good to break away from what one has always known, and be a little experimental. It allows the franchise to try out new ideas. After all, growth is the very bread and butter that helps a franchise survive in the long run.

At the moment, it seems that Star Wars is only limiting their speculative stories to their LEGO Halloween Specials. With the success of Marvel’s What If... perhaps the other arm of the Disney Corporation like Lucasfilm may consider this idea as well. With something so vast and expansive as the galaxy far, far away, what is wrong with a few “What if” stories sprinkled here and there along the way? Let’s make the idea behind this poster a reality!
