Hot off the heels of the trailer for LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, today marks the day of the release of this year's highly anticipated LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar, and it looks like an absolute must-have for any fan or collector to add to their, no doubt, already impressive collection.

Since the first initial calendar came out way back in 1998, LEGO have brought out on average 2-4 sets every year for the festive period. They change every year, but since franchises like Harry Potter, Marvel, and Star Wars, they have usually related to them in some way, along with their own original sets. This year, they are bringing out a new Star Wars themed set which has been influenced by the highly successful The Mandalorian TV series.

Just like the vast majority of advent calendars, it has 24 doors. Behind each door, the owner will find themselves either a LEGO minifigure, LEGO figure, buildable vehicle, weapon or accessory related to season two of The Mandalorian. The official description on the LEGO website confirms the calendar contains a scout trooper, stormtrooper, Tusken Raider, IG-11, and IT-O Interrogator Droid, as well as figures of Din Djarin and Grogu themselves (both in festive outfits I may add). It will also include mini build vehicles such as the Razor Crest, TIE Fighter, Boba Fett's starship, and Grogu's hovering pram, as well as mini builds such as a Tusken ballista snow launcher, training targets, Mandalorian weapon rack, and Imperial weapon rack. So plenty to keep yourself or another fan amused for some time.

LEGO and Star Wars have always had a special and very lucrative relationship since the late 1990's. Following the start of the prequel trilogy, LEGO began recreating many weapons, characters, vehicles, and set pieces from the galaxy far, far away, and then expanded into video games. The sets continue to remain very popular amongst fans of all ages to this day and make for a great birthday or Christmas present. They also never fail to become extremely popular amongst collectors as well, with many buying the sets just to keep them and see if they increase in value over time. The reason for the popularity probably comes from the fact they can be enjoyed by people of all ages. I remember spending time playing with the figures and building the sets with my dad, now I don't it with my own children. They create a bond between many different generations of fans.

Some of their more impressive sets can be quite expensive and set you back a pretty penny. However, the calendar remains much lower in price, making it more accessible to so many more fans. If you have a friend or loved one who loves Star Wars, then it just may be the perfect gift for them to start bringing in the holiday season. You need to be quick, though, as they do sell out fast.
