Who Could It Be?

The Book of Boba Fett is one of the most anticipated shows coming this year, and with the horrible part of 2020 still lingering in 2021, it is one of the only glimmers of hope coming in this drab year. Despite it being only a few months away, new information has been slow. News on the series has been kept relatively quiet in traditional Star Wars fashion. As a matter of fact, the only new information released is mostly confined to rumors and leaks, all of which must be taken with a grain of salt. Another one of these rumors has just been revealed, and it points to a major character's return to the series.

As stated above, rumors have been plenty regarding The Book of Boba Fett. Many of them involve the possible return of several characters. There have been claims that Timothy Olyphant will reprise his role as Cobb Vanth from The Mandalorian, and a new report from LRM Online stated that Bossk will return in the show.

The newest rumor making its way through Reddit and various online sites is that Cad Bane will be in The Book of Boba Fett, also marking his live-action debut. This is especially exciting because it is one of the few times a character that originated in an animated series will make a transition to live-action. If the rumor is true, he will be joining characters like Ahsoka Tano and Bo Katan who made their appearances in season 2 of The Mandalorian.

Although it is just a rumor, it would make sense for Bane to appear in The Book of Boba Fett. The two characters have a lot of history together, battling on and off all throughout the Clone Wars series. Bane also made a return in The Bad Batch trying to hunt down Omega. His presence in this new series shows that he did not die in the Clone Wars, and survived the Galactic Civil War. This also means that he and Boba Fett may have some unfinished business. In The Bad Batch, Bane fought opposite Fennec Shand (who is now allied with Boba Fett as seen in The Mandalorian). In that fight, he is shown to have a metal plate on his head from where Boba Fett shot him. It is understandable to think Bane would want revenge and would plot against Fett in the upcoming series.

Of course, this is all speculation, and this is just a rumor. There has been no casting information for Cad Bane at this time. It is possible he might not appear in the series at all. Information concerning the show has been kept under wraps. The only confirmation is that filming for the series is completed.

Even though it is unclear if there is any truth to this rumor, it would be amazing to see Cad Bane appear in a live-action show. It seems that these types of cross-overs are happening more frequently. Seeing Bane appear as a villain or possibly even a reluctant ally would be brilliant. Fortunately, fans will not have to wait too much longer for answers. The show is slated to release in December 2021, which is only a handful of months away. While Disney, Lucasfilm, and Dave Filoni probably want to keep as many secrets as possible for the show’s premiere, a trailer is bound to drop some time. Spiderman: No Way Home finally releases its trailer after all. However, someone did leak it, so Disney was not left with much of a choice. Trailer or not, The Book of Boba Fett will be here soon enough. Dreams will come true as fans finally get to see Boba Fett in the spotlight after all these years.
