Something New Or An Announced Project?

Star Wars! Nothing but Star Wars; and it seems that there will be nothing but Star Wars in the future, as production continues to ramp up on the many Disney+ shows on the horizon, especially for the year 2022. Cassian, Acolyte, Ashoka, Mandalorian, there is so much upcoming content, one would think that Star Wars fans would have their fill. Well apparently not, as it seems that there may be unannounced Star Wars projects already in production. What is this project exactly? It's hard to say exactly, however we can certainly speculate. Let's take a look.

This report comes from Fantha Tracks, stating that there is an unknown production going on in Pinewood Studios for some sort of Star Wars project. Pinewood is the go-to place for Star Wars projects in general, ranging from Rogue One to Last Jedi, and a lot of the older movies as well. It’s good to see the old Pinewood studio still getting good use out of Star Wars and the jobs it means for the hardworking folk there, production crew and cast, who are making these products.

But it begs the question of just what it is that they are filming.

With so many announced shows coming to Disney+ at the moment, could they have slipped one under the radar? It could be possible, after all Lucasfilm has many things in development in various forms and stages. Of course, it could also just be that they are preparing pre-production on one of their up coming shows, like The Acolyte which seems to be farther down the line and Pinewood may simply be setting the stage for that particular show. After all, production is a very lengthy and involved process, taking a lot of planning and preparation to ensure a well-crafted production, especially on a Star Wars project, for casual viewers and die-hard fans to enjoy.

However, it would be cool to know that there are other projects in the works that we don’t know about at the moment. So many ideas and stories come down the pipeline and eventually come to our screens in one way or another as the Star Wars universe continues to expand and grow beyond the Skywalker Saga, with the High Republic initiative being the biggest leap in that regard.

Most likely there probably isn’t a secret production in the works, and if there is, it is probably still in the really early stages of development, prepping of paperwork and sets. Again it takes a while to make movies and streaming series of this nature. So it is more likely that the studio is simply getting ready for one of their many projects already in active development. After all, there are only so many resources Lucasfilm has at their disposal at the moment and a wide slate of series to work on. However it is still fun to speculate on what a secret series could be.

Lucasfilm is known for their secrecy, but that doesn’t mean they can keep everything they're working on under wraps. After all, they do have to build sets, costumes, and props, and film it somewhere, even with the Volume allowing for more centralized and versatile productions. The galaxy of Star Wars continues to expand as we move on into the new year, hopefully it will delve into all sorts of new and wonderful places, themes, and characters.
