What Are You Looking Forward To The Most?

The new year is now upon us, and we are already two episodes into the much anticipated Disney+ Star Wars series The Book of Boba Fett. This is just the start of things, though, with Lucasfilm having lots of things lined up for us in 2022.

This year certainly looks to be a standout year for new Star Wars content on television via Disney+ streaming service and printed media. Alongside these, there will also be games and an all-new holiday experience. Unfortunately, Lucasfilm has not, as yet, given release dates for the 2022 Disney+ streaming shows, but they have at least confirmed which ones we will see.

Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi leads the charge, with Ewan McGregor returning as the titular hero and Hayden Christiansen reprising his role as Darth Vader. This will probably be the most exciting series in that the past and the present are very well mapped out already in Star Wars storytelling for Obi-Wan Kenobi. However, the planned seven-episode run does not give them a lot of scope for building up the story and filling in those gaps.

Star Wars: Andor features Diego Luna again taking the role of rebel spy Cassian Andor in a prequel series to his adventures in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

If you happen to follow any of the Renew\Cancel sites, you might have seen a strong view that Star Wars: Andor has been renewed for a second and third season already.

The Mandalorian Season Three will return, continuing the story of Din Djarin. Beginning five years after the events of Return of the Jedi (1983) and the fall of the Galactic Empire, The Mandalorian follows Din Djarin, the lone Mandalorian bounty hunter in the outer reaches of the galaxy. He is hired by remnant Imperial forces to retrieve the child Grogu but instead goes on the run to protect the infant. While looking to reunite Grogu with his kind or the Jedi, they are pursued by Moff Gideon, who wants to use Grogu's connection to the Force for his own machinations. Season Two ended with Din Djarin defeating Moff Gideon and becoming the rightful owner of the Darksaber. We then see Grogu being taken into the care of Luke Skywalker. The future is unclear for Din Djarin and Bo-Katan as we ponder not only the fate of Grogu but also how the Darksaber storyline will play out and what Moff Gideon will do next.

The Bad Batch Season Two animated series will continue the saga of Clone Force 99. Clone Force 99, also known as The Bad Batch, is a group of elite clone troopers with genetic mutations first introduced in Star Wars: The Clone Wars. In this spin-off/sequel story to Star Wars: The Clone Wars, we see the Bad Batch take on daring mercenary missions after the Clone Wars. Unfortunately, there is scant information at the moment on where Season Two will take us, so it will be interesting to see what awaits Omega, Hunter, Wrecker, Tech, and Echo.

It will be curious to see where the story takes Crosshair since he was left on Kamino without a ride when we last saw him. What fork in the road will he take?

Star Wars: Ahsoka will start shooting in early 2022 and, as of now, is tentatively scheduled for late 2022 when you add in time for CGI and post-production. Rosario Dawson returns to play the former Jedi, and Hayden Christiansen is also confirmed to appear.

Personally, I am looking forward to Obi-Wan Kenobi and Andor the most. New Star Wars content is a good thing, and we have a lot of it coming up. What are you looking forward to the most?
