A Limitless, Eco-friendly, Global System?

To A Better World

A Limitless Eco-Friendly Global System?

I’m not especially sure why I’m writing this or who is going to resonate with this, but sometimes I don’t think that’s the most important thing about writing. Sometimes you just have to write for your life ‘cus books, stories, speeches, theatre and movies are sure as hell some of the most powerful ways to communicate a message and these all begin with the written word.

At this point in my life, I have to admit I am pretty damn unhappy. It’s Tuesday 23rd March 2021 and they locked down the United Kingdom due to the “covid-19 virus” so that no one can fly abroad unless they have a work permit! Pretty unfair, huh. I can tell you as someone who just spent the last couple of years living abroad in Canada where most of my close friends now reside, that it sucks not being able to move around freely - especially when you have an eccentric parents at home or ones who want to wrap you in cotton wool when you’re 28 years of age and have travelled half the world already! As someone who is very independent and for the most part, free spirited, this doesn’t work that well for me. At least we can appreciate the good things about being home though and having providence, even if life isn’t always what we expect it to be.

As for the “covid-19” virus… well, I have to admit as a natural skeptic and free-thinker I wasn’t that sure what all the fuss was about at first - all the statistics seemed to show different things; there wasn’t that much biological information on the virus and a lot of the information on the virus seemed to be ramped up to full on, hyped up, dramatic, inconcise, non-factual news mode… especially in Britain. However, I decided to take my chances and carry on venturing outside wearing a mask, using sanitizer and avoiding close contact with people. That being said, I realise now, how sometimes, with the correct understanding, conformity and rule following can be a good thing. After all, rules are generally designed to protect people, especially the weakest members in our society.

There has been so much drama around this virus though, “what is happening to world?” we ask ourselves. Honestly, I don’t really know. I’m sure I’m not the only one, but just over a year of lock down and some of that, living alone in solitary confinement I’m starting to wonder what is even real anymore?! Doing online University at home work is fine, but without real socialization and being pushed away from our friends, doing the same routines daily and having little real-world altruistic impact or personal development for the planet we start to wonder - what have we even been doing all these years? How is this helping our planetary environment just spending money all the time and why is no-one devising more complete, linking, limitless, waste-minimal, emission-minimal living systems with great social care spaces for the young, for the elderly and for the infirm? Why not create a global system where we can all live in harmony, on the same “banking” system which essentially would work as a “limitless” card where we all get allocated a certain, generous number of cookies or “buy points” per day and every family gets designated a hip, chic, minimalist, eco-friendly living system with great recycling and filtration methods, and designate people to appropriate developmental project categories such as ecological care, landscaping, exploration, teaching, and social care for the young, elderly and infirm etc. We could even scout out the people with the highest IQ to design these systems and organise the management of them. And of course, responsible investment in ecological projects, development and building work would be a fantastic idea too and that way we could still save for extra projects, small, responsible businesses and special items etc.

We could get together linesmen teams and scout out high speed electrical rail travel, build an antarctic highway from Europe over to Canada, and focus more on community living, and eco-friendly, base price, unbranded, high quality-clothing items. Really, why are we not setting this up? Global warming is such an issue and scientists have already proven we need to cut back on emissions by 2030, otherwise us and all of our children, or future children, will suffer the severe devastating effects of pollution, sea levels rising, harmful chemicals in the sea and many more. Seriously everyone, we need to start thinking about greener solutions for the future and mainly, this needs to start with a unified system that looks after the social and physical wellbeing of its members, where consumption is done on a more necessary basis, and bike rides, tree planting and visits to new places and family/friends are common. There is a lot to be said in the phrase, “experiences not things”, although of course we can keep what we have and collect good products like I say.

Personally, although I like Fashion and Interior Design, I would rather spend my life learning and seeing new things, and reflecting on shared, small-group experience, rather than unnecessarily consuming from a world with limited resources and buying super expensive products which take away from the wealth of those nearer the bottom of society. If we’re already in an economic crisis, then why not start redevelopment plans now? We could scrap world debt entirely, link everything up like I say, and create bigger open space living areas/homes, open collective spaces, have better train lines, more trees, pretty decor, electric car shares, more buses and hip chic? Actually, when I questioned my Instagram followers on this, 90% of them agreed that this was a good idea. It certainly seems a better idea than just making everybody unhappy by just shutting down society. Why not just employ more creative people to make better eco solutions?

Conclusively, there are a lot of things we can do with our time during the “covid-19 virus” even if we don’t care about the environment, such as posting written pieces online on sites such as Vocal Creators, podcasting on Anchor/Spotify, putting videos on YouTube (all where you can earn money), and we can even be creative by writing our own film scripts and books - and earning money for that. In such a world where resources are clearly an issue, why not pave the way for genius level alternatives and focus on a limitless base system and then intellectual capitalism, rather than physical industries? To a better world!
