Star Wars has a rich and expansive universe. That universe got somewhat divided when Disney bought Lucasfilm and then it was announced a year and a half later that books, games, comics, and other expanded universe stories up to that point would not be part of the new Star Wars canon. Since then, fans have debated about whether some of their favorite stories would ever become canon again. There are a few stories that have the potential to make it into this new Star Wars universe.

10. Bounty Hunter Wars

The bounty hunter wars are a series of conflicts between the Bounty Hunters Guild involving everyone’s favorite new dad-bod bounty hunter Boba Fett. It actually starts in-between the movies in the original trilogy, but with some clever writing, it could easily be set after Episode VI. This could also fit nicely with The Book of Boba Fett show coming soon.

9. Jodo Kast

Speaking of Boba Fett, Jodo Kast would be an excellent addition to the canon, and he would also fit perfectly into The Book of Boba Fett. Jodo Kast is a bounty hunter who wears Mandalorian armor. After Fett falls into the sarlacc pit, Kast paints his armor to look like Fett's to drive up his price. Naturally, Boba Fett is not too keen on people impersonating him.

8. Wraith Squadron

Wraith Squadron is a ragtag team of misfit pilots that had tons of experience during the Galactic Civil War. They are formed by Wedge Antilles about 7 ABY. Their original purpose is to be a hybrid of New Republic starfighters and a commando unit. They are a key part of the New Republic, and they would seem to work well in the new Rangers of the New Republic show.

7. Shadow of the Empire

Shadow of the Empire is a fan favorite story that takes place in between Episode V and VI. The video game from this multimedia project follows smuggler and mercenary Dash Rendar. He plays a major role in the series helping out the Rebels on Hoth and aiding in locating Boba Fett and Han Solo. Although it may be a little tricky to avoid plot holes given that this time period is being covered in multiple comic series at the moment, it would be amazing to see this story brought into canon in a way that meshes well with the canonical version of this era. Perhaps it could even be adapted for the big or small screen.

6. Thrawn Stories From Legends

Thrawn has been a fan favorite for years, and he was even brought into canon through Star Wars Rebels. However, his story was changed a bit from the original novels, but that doesn’t mean we won’t see them on the screen. The character seems to be making a comeback in the Ahsoka TV show, just based on the fact that she is looking for him during The Mandalorian season 2. So hopefully, we will see Thrawn at his full potential in some canonical version of events from the original novel trilogy, and perhaps other Legends stories that involve him.

5. Darth Plagueis

Darth Plagueis is in a similar boat as Grand Admiral Thrawn. He is technically canon since he was mentioned by Darth Sidious himself in Revenge of the Sith. However, the novel Darth Plagueis by James Luceno is not canon in the series. It is really a shame because the rise and fall of Darth Plagueis, which leads to the rise and fall of Darth Sidious, is a fantastic story that would make a fantastic show or series. Perhaps some of the story can be salvaged for canon somehow.

4. Mara Jade

Mara Jade is a key character in the Legends books that take place after Return of the Jedi. She is a Sith assassin sent by the Emperor before his death to kill Luke Skywalker. Instead, she helps him and later marries him. This would be a trickier character to implement in live-action, but an animated series or new comic series would still be amazing.

3. Darth Bane

Again, Darth Bane is another character who is technically canon. He was created by George Lucas and even appears as an apparition in The Clone Wars. Like his predecessors on the list, his full story hasn’t been told in canon. We know he created the rule of two, but we don’t know much else. It would be great to see his war against Jedi and the reforming of the Sith Order on the screen.

2. Darth Revan

There is a deleted scene of Darth Revan in The Clone Wars animated series, and he is another fan favorite. His chances of aspects of his stories being moved into canon seem pretty high, especially given that a Sith Trooper legion in The Rise of Skywalker is named after him. Not to mention that he is one of the most powerful Sith to have ever lived, and he is a former Jedi as well. There is a story ripe with potential for future films or shows.

1. The Old Republic

I know, technically Darth Revan is part of the Old Republic, but he is such a big character that I thought he deserved his own spot. However, almost everything in the Old Republic could be turned into some kind of story. The Jedi-Sith war, Darth Nihilus, Darth Vitiate, the Old Republic is a treasure trove of stories. The fact that the events take place thousands of years before Episode I means that it would be super easy to do in almost any medium.
