Otherwise known as Isekai anime, is an "accidental travel" medium that revolves around a normal person from Earth being transported, reborn or trapped in some kind of parallel universe or fantasy world. Some classic examples are Spirited Away or Inuyasha.

The Rising of the Shield Hero

I just recently started this one and it is probably my favorite on this list. Four heroes from different eras of Japan are transported to a different world as the legendary heroes to protect them from otherworldly foes. We follow the narrative of the Shield hero and how he becomes cast out and made to be a traitor of the kingdom. He finds friendship in the most unlikely way and we begin to see a different side of him as he grows with his companions and becomes the unknown hero everyone needs him to be.

Sword Art Online

Probably the most popular on this list, this is an anime where kids are playing a VRMMOrpg and end up having to stay their because if they remove the helmet or die in the game they die in real life. We follow the character Kirito and how he chooses to live in his new world. There's romance, action, adventure, video game banter, and fun characters.

That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime

This is one that I haven’t seen on this list, but it is one that is on my list to watch! It’s about a man named Mikami Satoru who is killed and reincarnated into another world as a slime. Gross, if you ask me. But it is an upgrade from his old life where he was in a dead-end job and had no hopes towards a good future, so when he was robbed and killed becoming a slime in another world change his life. Watch as he joins others on a quest.

No Game No Life

This is the next on my list to watch! We follow a group of human gamers wanting to beat the god of games at a series of boardgames in order to usurp the god's throne. The picture above is indicative of the color and creativity the anime shows. I am excited for this one!

In Another World With My Smartphone

I thought this was a fun show and very entertaining. However, the trope of all the girls and one guy is obviously prevalent and that’s not really my cup of tea anymore. But it’s a fun watch! After accidentally dying, God sends a boy to another land to live out the rest of his days with his last request, bringing his smartphone with him. After being sent to the new land, he meets girls who are willing to help him on his journey.

Arifureta

This is a serious anime and I almost stopped watching because of how gruesome it was, but the main character builds up his strength in an unconventional way and he starts off as the weakest character to the strongest with a strong ally by his side. Left by his companions for dead, he has to figure out a way to get back to them. All while being in a world that he knows almost nothing about because him and his classmates were transported by another world to save them from dungeon beasts. We watch as he tries to survive and become a strong hero.

Overlord

Another one I haven’t seen! Like most of these shows, the players of a game get sucked in and now have to play the game like their life depends on it. And this time it really does because if they die in the game, they die in real life. It’s like Sword Art Online!

How Not to Summon A Demon Lord

I watched the first few episodes and honestly it wasn’t for me, but it is definitely a classic anime with girls that have big boobs and guys trying to be respectful yet perverted! Ha! But in all seriousness, it’s a fun watch and has a lot of humor. In an MMORPG game a kid known as the “Demon Lord” for his strong gameplay has now been transported to a world in the form of his demon lord avatar by two girls. Trying to figure out his new life, he gets into trouble with the girls and how to be the demon lord they summoned.

Problem Children Are Coming from Another World, Aren’t They?

Another one I haven’t seen on this list, but it looks hilarious! It’s funny most of these shows are either serious or funny. There’s really no in between. But, this show is about three problem children who come to a place called “Little Garden,” by special invitation from a girl called Black Rabbit. Apparently anything goes in this world and it’s up to you to watch to figure out what’s going on! Good luck!

The Girl in Twilight

This one is a new one to me, but the plot intrigued me and it looks very interesting. Five girls a part of the Crystal Radio Research Club perform a ritual as a fun club activity and find out that it actually worked! They are transported to a parallel universe where they meet someone who looks like one of their friends, only to find out that is them, but they are from that universe. This place is called the Twilight.

Bonus: Digimon

This is an older classic that was showed on cable about a group of kids who were camping and ended up in the DigiWorld. Unsure where they are, they find eggs that aren't what they thought. Digimon babies are inside and grow to become their companions and with their devices they can DigiVolve into fierce champions to fight to save their human companions.
