Shounen or Shonen anime is one of the most popular genres out there. It usually has a male protagonist who is on a journey, whether that be by choice or some how gets involved in one. It's mostly an anction and fantasy style anime with less emphasis on romance, so if that's your style I'd see your way out.

I think we could definitely use more of these animes because even though they have a lot of bleak situations, positive themes always surface and make a stand!

Here are some to give a try!

Hunter X Hunter

Determined to find his father, Gon Freecs takes the Hunter examine to closer understand his father and know where he has been his whole life. Gon makes friends along the way and see their journeys and why they want to become hunters. They go through the hunter exam in the first season and what the characters do after the exam. Whether they pass or not.

The characters learn more about the world than they ever thought they would. We watch as these children grow and become some of the strongest characters in the anime universe. Bonus: A new season just came out!

Naruto and Naruto Shippuden

Naruto is an anime that probably almost everyone has heard of because the popularity and fan base are huge! And for good reason! We watch Naruto and his friends of the Leaf become ninja's and grow to become more powerful shinobe.

One Punch Man

I've only watched one episode, but it was probably the most intense first episode of a show I've ever seen. We meet a man who is about to battle a foe far more powerful than him. He loses this fight, but it makes his conviction to become a hero far more powerful than it was. After intense training he becomes, One-Punch Man, ready to take on any villain and give his new found powers a challenge they so deserve.

Demon Slayer

So I actually haven't seen seen this one, but I have only heard good things about it. It's about a boy whose whole family gets slaughtered by demons, only to have his sister turned into one. He sets out to become a demon slayer to kill those who killed his family and to save the only family he has left. To find the cure to turn his sister back to the way she was.

Fairy Tail

One of my favorites on this list! We follow the guild called, Fairy Tail. Through different skills and power, the guild members are trying to get stronger in their magically abilities while trying to save the cities and those surrounding from any hardship. This anime is great because we get to see cool magic (that we all wish we had), friendships to last a life time, and fighting evil!

Black Clover

For two orphan boys who have nothing, they are aiming for the highest rank in the kingdom- Wizard King.
