What It's Like Being a Millionaire’s Part-time Girlfriend

The truth about having a Sugar Daddy.

We all daydream about it don't we? Sunbathing on a yacht in St. Tropez, living as the other half do, no worries about money. Spending our days shopping, buying millions of things that we might never need. Filling the rest of our time with hair appointments and spa visits. So what would it be like to live that life every day?

I met with Lola in a packed coffee house, from the moment she entered she was not what I expected. She had perfect, glossy blonde hair and wore acid washed jeans. Lola’s appearance didn’t scream money and yet there was something about her, she exuded elegance and class.

Lola was twenty-three and a professional Sugar Baby. What’s a Sugar Baby you ask? A sugar baby is a girlfriend, of sorts, a woman who is paid a monthly allowance to treat herself and go on dates with her Sugar Daddy.

Yazmine Howes: So how does your relationship work?

Lola: Well Frank* has regular social events that he has to attend with work, sometimes locally and sometimes further afield. I often meet him before hand at a bar, or a restaurant and we go from there.

YH: So do you..?

L: Have sex? (Lola smiles) It’s okay, you can ask. Sometimes we do. Not all of the time but when we want to have sex together we do. Our arrangement doesn’t mean that I have to sleep with him, and if I don’t want to I don’t. He takes care of me because he wants to, not because he is expecting sexual favours. I’m not an escort.

YH: How did you become a Sugar Baby?

L: I was at university at the time and my friend signed me up to this Sugar Daddy dating website as a joke. I started getting responses and I thought “Why not?”. It was a while before Frank* found me though.

YH: I think a lot of people have the image of a pretty young girl dating a Hough Hefner look alike, purely for the money. Would you say that this is often the case with Sugar Baby/Sugar Daddy relationships?

L: (Lola laughs) Yes, sometimes it is the case, but most of the time everyone is clued in to what is going on. No one has the idea that one day they will get married, have beautiful babies and live happily ever after, and the Sugar Babies wouldn’t want that anyway. I’m lucky really, Frank* is really attractive and he isn’t that much older. He is just lonely and doesn’t get time for normal relationships because of work.

YH: What do you mean when you say Sugar Babies don’t want to be married and have children with their Sugar Daddies?

L: Well it’s all about the independence. You can’t just drift in and out of those types of obligations, as a sugar baby you have the freedom to come and go as you please and live your life outside of those dates how you want to. That’s a lot to give up.

YH: You said you attended events with Frank, are other people aware of the type of arrangement you have?

L: No, we keep that to ourselves mostly, it’s not really something that anyone needs to know.

YH: So outside of your dates, how do you spend your life?

L: I’m just a normal person; I go to the gym, I meet friends, I go shopping. Just normal stuff really.

Lola is convinced that there is nothing wrong with living her life in this way, she isn't doing anything illegal and earns herself enough money to enjoy things that most of us can only dream of on a full time wage. I definitely won't be judging her for how she chooses to make a living.
