Duskwood: Into the Forest: "Phil's Epilogue
You stare blankly at the T.V. Phil glances your way a few times as he wipes down the bar. You’re numb. After all that you’ve been through, Jake’s disappeared again, and you haven’t heard anything from him. Phil slides you a shot of your favorite liquor. You absentmindedly toss it back, igniting your throat, burning your chest. You don’t flinch. You’ll take the distraction, the pain, over the pounding in your chest.

The wedding ended up being performed, ironically enough, by a minister friend of Cliff's. Kim's old friend from her off-off-Broadway days was trying to make it in La-La Land as well and had arranged for the minister to perform the marriage of his old friend to his former nemesis. Cliff had known about, and strongly disapproved of, Kim's relationship with the Russian spy, and he'd been elated when she'd broken off the relationship and joined Amanda and the others in Nebraska. Now that the Cold War had ended, Cliff's distrust of Andrei had mellowed as well, and he was happy for Kim that she'd been reunited with the man she'd never stopped loving.

November 18, 1978 Jonestown Over the P.A., the daily Jim Jones harangue does not wake Robert this morning but music instead – not the Jonestown Express but classical. From his other life, the pre-Peoples Temple life, he recognizes Vivaldi. But instead of Spring or Summer, which were played and overplayed endlessly in department stores and elevators, hoping their cheerfulness would prod consumers to buy, it is Winter. As a child, Robert had been a prodigy on the piano, but gave it up in adolescence when he saw how hopelessly unhip and unblack classical music was.

Used Dara entered the house after a long day of dealing with parents, and all she wanted was a glass of wine and her Daddy. When she found the note on the table, she learned he had other plans. His instructions were to go get undressed and meet him naked on the patio. Smiling she picked up the single Calli lily that he had placed beside the note and carried it with her upstairs. Walking directly into the closet Dara stripped out of her clothes, then walked naked into the bathroom. She touched up her makeup, and just because she took her hair out of the updo that she had worn that day and brushed it out to put it into pigtails with a naughty smile, she blew a kiss to the mirror and sauntered out of the bathroom leaving the flower in a bud vase on her vanity.

Content warning: This story contains graphic descriptions and mentions of adult topics. Author's note: Sometimes I need to write stuff. It's not always beautiful; at times what I write is ugly. This is probably my ugliest one so far.

Only you have convinced me to shake things up with creating content. Before you, I’ve only felt safe to make content with me, myself, and I. This isn’t just as a means of safety but as a means of just having the control over everything I create for my brand. Any time another person is brought in everything changes. The profits have to be split, there has to be shared credit, everything just gets shaken up in a way I don’t always like but know I have to accept if I want to reach more subscribers.

Check out Chapter Two first... Saturday nights for a twenty-one-year-olds were simple; it was a night for drinking and being out with friends. Diana was sat at a small round table, at one of the many nightclubs with three of her closest friends. First was Hannah, a red hair green-eyed waitress who had dreams of being on Broadway. She had starred in the chorus of a number of small productions, but she had yet to have her big break. She was quite timid and therefore her dreams seem a little unrealistic to all those who had never heard her sing.

I was thinking about Callie when I went in to work the following day. "How's the woman who was brought in yesterday with the compound fracture?" I asked the nurse whose shift I was relieving.

“Hey! Are you okay?” His voice filtered up through my senses. Pain thundered through my skull and rang in my ears so that he sounded like he was calling to me across a distance. He wasn’t though. He was right beside me.
