Whats a porn star to do? Of course, cosplay if you are mainstreaming. What is mainstreaming? What it is not, is a fetish. What it is, is the rebranding of an adult entertainer in a new industry, outside of traditional pornography. Makes sense when you think about it. Cosplay, while not a strict fetish, has much in common with sexual role play. Most female geek characters in geek franchises from movies like The Avengers to video game sensation Mortal Kombat, are smoking hot and dressed for sex or a night out at a club in The Matrix.

Tanya Tate

A successful adult performer turned sexy cosplayer is Tanya Tate. Getting a late start, Tate didn't enter the adult industry until 2009 at age thirty. She found immediate success and had a popular series, Tanya Tate's Casting Couch. This smart blonde bombshell used her notoriety to jump into the world of comics. She appeared at the 2010 San Diego Comic-Con as the arctic fox, Emma Frost, which led to her winning a number of cosplay awards.

Ever since, she's had a strong presence in the comic world. Tanya went on to publish her first novel and was featured in articles as an exceptional cosplayer. Tanya Tate currently has a cosplay themed website and has even created her own superhero, Lady Titan, which was revealed in 2013 with plans for a line of action figures. Sounds like cosplaying has been pretty good to her. Oh, and, don't worry...she's still entertaining adults without any costumes.

Misti Dawn

Misti Dawn found her niche in the porn world when in 2004, she accepted an offer to star modeling for the popular alternative website, SuicideGirls. SuicideGirls is an adult lifestyle brand that redefines beauty with unique pin up girls and an active online community. The website is known for highlighting women with tattoos, likes Misti. After her time with SuicideGirls, Misti graduated onto hardcore porn through video publisher, BurningAngel and Belladonna.

In 2009, she decided to rebrand herself, and launched her own website/blog called Meowmistidawn. She showcased her sexy and intricate cosplay costumes, which she wears to a plethora of events. She continued to develop her own content with Alana Evans in 2011 by creating the ultimate geek fantasy site, called Pwned By Girls. Subscribers can play games with Evans and Dawn through Xbox Live or the PlayStation Network. Misti Dawn is no longer involved in pornography, but is an active cosplayer in the comic-con community. She reviews games on her YouTube channel and blog, and she makes her rounds at the conventions every year. This 5’2 little kitty cat can have us meowing for hours as she beats us at Halo.

Ran Asakawa

Ran Asakawa is a Japanese bomb-shell and an AV idol. These women either tease their appeal, or perform hardcore porn. The Adult Video industry gained popularity in the 1980s, coincidentally when Ran Asakawa was born. Since then, hundreds of AV idols have debuted every year; but their limelight is temporary, shining in the spotlight with their careers for a short year. Sasha Grey

Sasha often likes to dress up coyly at comic conventions as Alice in Wonderland, a Nerd Nija, Princess Leia, or Wonder Woman; making it difficult for us to pick our favorite. Sasha Grey is an American former pornographic actress, who gained popularity in the media from her willingness to enter the world of hardcore porn at a young age. Originally, she called herself Anna Karina, incorporating the name of a French New Wave actress and the novel Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy. The name “Sasha” was taken from one member of the band KMFDM, and “Grey” represents theOscar Wilde novel The Picture of Dorian Grey. Sasha’s big break in the porn industry was during an orgy scene with Rocoo Siffredi for The Fashionistas 2, where she asked Siffredi to punch her in the stomach. She later claimed that she was improvising and this scene was taken out of context. She is also a former member of the industrial musicband Telecine. This multi-talented hottie can appear at any comic-con, any day she wants, and expect the longest lines. other than perhaps Norman Reedus.

Kleio Valentien

Kleio Valentien is extremely active in both the porn and the cosplay community. She loves dressing up as Harley Quinn, especially when it’s in a Cat Woman and Joker threesome. Kleio is from Texas, and brings a little southern spice to all of her performances. She was exposed to pornography in the most innocent way: she watched an online adult video, became interested, and decided that pornography was something that she wanted to try out. The idea of having the camera–and others–watch her during sex excited her, and she now uses this to her full advantage. Kleio Valentien is a tattooed porn star, who found her niche through Burning Angel Entertainment. Overnight she became a huge success, and when on to appear in films and scenes for Naughty America. When she’s not baring all for the small screen, she tantalizingly teases us in her cosplay costumes.

Asphyxia Noir

Asphyxia Noir is the Instagram queen of sexy cosplay. This short black haired beauty seems like she lives in the Great Gatsby every day of her life–although I doubt that Gatsby's women had badass tattoos that tempt your eyes to stare longer than you’d think. Lady Noir comes to the porn and cosplay world from good ol’ Massachusetts. Her favorite cosplay costume? Snow White, of course. Leave the innocence behind when it comes to seeing this not-so-sleeping beauty. She’ll make you want to bite into a poison apple any day.

Draven Star

Draven Star also shares an unparalleled likeness to Snow White, claiming that she is the real life Snow White. She may be the real life Snow, but she’s the one and only Doom Doll. On her website, she describes herself as “I model, I’m rad, I look good naked. I love serial killers, Death Eaters, Disney, horror movies, and glitter. Too dark for the ‘Dark Side’. I need stilettos like I need air”. If this cosplay cutie were well behaved, she’d die of boredom. She’s the featured image of the book “The Dark Side of Disney”. Draven Star comes complete with tattoos and piercing, and we look forward to seeing her at every single convention. You don’t need to wish anymore, Snow.

Joanna Angel

Joanna Angel, face of Burning Angel, is the only woman on this list who has directed her own adult video about cosplay. Her site, Burning Angel, recently released a new title called “Comic Book Freaks and Cosplay Geeks”, which features every comic book and cosplay fantasy you could think of. Directed by Angel herself, the movie has been called “an outrageous collection of fan-boy wet dreams”, starring another cosplayer on our list, Draven Star. Joanna Angel discusses her film by remarking, “this movie is really unique and each scene truly feels like a movie of its own. We covered many different aspects and styles of cosplay–everything from Anime, to Tank girl, and Elvira. The cast all stepped into their different character roles and had so much fun with it, you will clearly see that energy in every sex scene.”
