Prologue

The auriferous luster of the bracelet glinted in the candlelight as a bottle of rich whiskey was poured into two glasses containing ice cubes. Both glasses were picked up and one was handed to the companion sitting on the opposite settee.

“Do we have a deal, Suyo? Can I trust you to follow through with our agreement?” The man who poured the beverage asked looking intently at his companion.

The associate had a lazy look on his face and his lips quirked into a smirk. He tilted his glass mockingly at his long time friend.

“You may proceed with your plans, Bala. But there is something more I need from you,” he drawled while inhaling the rich scent of the amber colored liquid before taking a sip.

Bala closed his eyes to curb his frustration. His friend loved to be dramatic. Sometimes a little too much.

“Are you going to tell me what it is? Or do I have to spend the next few hours guessing?” Bala asked drily making Suyo let out a full body laugh.

“You really are impatient, Sahodara. This is important enough that I won’t waste time beating around the bush,” Suyo said with a sigh as he sat up straight and leaned forward with his arms on his knees, the glass held nimbly between his fingers.

Bala placed his own glass on the table and scrunched his eyebrows as he studied the serious expression on his friend’s face. His friend who was normally a cocky, arrogant ass most of the time. The way he was worrying his bottom lip was a real sign that he was nervous. It was not an expression one commonly viewed on his face.

He let out a harsh gust of air and fixed Bala with piercing dark eyes.

“I want to marry your sister,” he said and Bala blinked.

He didn’t realize that his friend harbored such feelings towards his sister. Due to their large age difference, his little sister hardly spent much time around him and his friends all that much growing up.

“I understand that it might seem all of a sudden but I really do like her. I want to spend the rest of my life with her. I want to ask you for her hand in marriage since-“ he broke off as a look of understanding passed between both men. Both their parents were dead. Bala was the man of the house and has been for the past 10 years. He’d known Suyodhanan since he was a child. They were best friends, business partners and his brother from another mother. Now was a chance to make their ties even stronger.

“Yes,” he interrupted Suyo’s spiel.

Suyo gave a look of disbelief.

“Really?”

Bala stood and Suyo mirrored his actions.

“Of course, Nanba. You can marry my sister. I believe this alliance will serve us quite well,” Bala announced pulling his friend into a manly hug.

“I can’t believe it,” Suyo breathed out with a chuckle.

“I can’t imagine a better suitor for my sister. I promise you that you two will be wed at the earliest auspicious date,” Bala proclaimed.

“I trust you not to go back on your word. You always keep your promises,” Suyo said.

“Welcome to the family, Sahodara,” Bala said and clinked his glass with his future brother in law.

The two men laughed and were completely ignorant of the small gasp of shock from a small figure peeking in the doorway.

Chapter 1

Vasu's POV :

Vasu couldn't imagine anything better than this. Having a warm, comfortable weight on his lap, pressing up against him and ravishing him, like there was no tomorrow. The fact that the woman was beautiful was even better and the rich moans and soft mewls were even more amazing. Vasu couldn't imagine a better Thursday evening.

Vasu junior was looking forward to the evening's activities and wouldn't mind rushing things along a bit. But Vasu was a cultured man. He knew the pleasures of delayed gratification. A subject which took him many years to master and also the reason why women flocked to him like bees to honey. Women were like wine. One had to take the time to inspect, inhale, taste before devouring them.

That was his plan for the evening and Rukmini was more than willing. One might say, she was too willing but Vasu knew how to handle such eagerness even when her wandering hands had unzipped his pants and were ready to dive right in and grab his jewels.

He clutched her hand before Vasu junior could explode in joy.

"I want you in me now, Vasu!" she demanded eyes sharp and demanding.

Vasu sushed her.

"Patience darling. You carry too much tension. Let me take care of you," he soothed and before she could give another sharp retort, he switched positions so that Rukmini lay on the couch with Vasu between her legs. Her skirt was pushed up and he traced a finger along her inner thighs feeling them quiver beneath his touch.

Rukmini got over her disorientation quickly enough and glared at him. She never liked being teased and Vasu was trying so hard to teach her the pleasures of waiting. He was making progress with her. At a snails pace. But progress, nonetheless.

After carefully pulling her panties away, since Rukmini had punched him so hard in the kidney after tearing it apart last time, (It's not a fit of passion, dumbass! Don't ruin my expensive lingerie!) Vasu dove right in to stem any further complaints he might receive. Rukmini was too bossy but it served her well in her professional life. After all, it was upto Vasu to teach her the pleasures and virtues of patience.

It was very much satisfying to hear her choked up retort with a resounding kiss to her nether lips. So beautiful they were, like the petals of a rose. No wonder people called it deflowering. His tongue looped around the tiny bud at the top and sucked. Rukmini clutched his hair and nearly pulled it out. She was such a violent little creature. At hardly 5'1" she had the power to bring a 6'5" man to tears. That was when Vasu fell in intense lust with her. There was always an edge of danger when playing with her. She could very easily bite his cock off if she was incredibly pissed off but she wouldn't do so, since Vasu understood woman and knew how to calm even the most dangerous fierce shrews. Rukmini also loved Vasu junior too much to cause any real damage. Very few women did wish Vasu junior harm.

Now back to taming of the writhing shrew on his couch, Vasu licked the honeypot, slurping the sweet juices and bit the sensitive skin of her inner thighs. It was music to his ears hearing the pleading, cursing and the desperation leak into her voice. He so loved making a strong woman come apart under his ministrations.

It wasn't long before Rukmini completely fell apart and her orgasm burst out of her. He closed his eyes as he knew what to expect. Her juices sprayed across his forehead, and eyelids and cheeks. And this was another reason he loved Rukmini. She was a squirter. His little Squirtle. If Rukmini could hear his thoughts, he would be dead in seconds. It was so hard keeping his amusement contained though.

He gazed up to see his exotic firecracker, panting for breath, truly and completely exhausted. A job well done, he gave himself a mental pat on the back. Now Vasu junior was whining about his turn. It'll happen soon enough, he reassured as he adjusted his pants.

Ding dong. Ding dong.

Vasu gave a pained groan at the sound of the doorbell. His neighbors were annoying. The aunties loved him cause he flirted with them, the uncles hated him cause he flirted with the aunties, the kids wanted him to take part in their games and pranks. All in all, everyone wanted a piece of him. It was a burden being so wanted. But Vasu handled it with grace and dignity.

Ding dong. Ding dong.

Especially when his ding donging bell tore his attention away from his own ding dong.

“I’ll send them away in a minute, baby. I promise,” he went to kiss her and she ducked.

“Wipe your face first and fix your hair,” she ordered. Vasu pouted but complied wiping his face on his own shirt. Rukmini muttered something about unhygienic pigs which he happily ignored in favor of whistling as he fixed his hair and made his way to the door.

The visitor on the other side did not make him happy. Especially the teary eyed, blubbering expression of abject misery on his best friend’s face made him very, very sad.

“Vasu! Something horrible has happened!” Arjuna wailed as he hugged Vasu and cried making Vasu wonder why he was still friends with the melodramatic idiot. Consoling his blubbering best friend was an important aspect of their life long friendship. Another aspect of it was fixing up his stupid blundering mistakes.

Vasu junior shriveled at the thought of a lost orgasm. The door opposite to his apartment opened and Vasuki Aunty peered at the scene of two hot guys hugging and he saw the hungry excitement in her dark gaze. Vasu gulped nervously and gave a short wave before steering Nagarjuna inside. Vasuki Aunty scared him sometimes.

From the sofa, Rukmini took in the scene with an unimpressed look and began to pack.

“Rukmini, wait!” Vasu pleaded knowing it wouldn’t do much good.

“Take care of your platonic fuck buddy, Vasu. I don’t want to know what he screwed up this time and knowing him, it‘s going to take you the rest of the night,” she said as she stuffed her lacy underwear into her purse. Arjuna was so far gone that her insult hardly registered as he shuffled over to the dining table and collapsed onto the chair looking every bit the picture of a dejected puppy.

“Rukmini, let me find out what he wants and I'll send him away. Half hour tops! I promise you I’ll do anything you want,” Vasu cried and then cleared his throat as he realized his error. But it was too late for take backs as Rukmini gave him an evil grin and placed a finger on his lips to shush his protests.

“30 minutes, Kurumbukara Kanna! I’ll set things up in your bedroom,” she sing songed and skipped away. Vasu shivered. Watching Rukmini skip was scary and also arousing. The clock was ticking and he needed to get rid of his idiot best friend.

Vasu shook his head and headed to his best friend and sat down beside him.

“Tell me what happened,” he asked and got a mixture of keening, sniffling, howling which made no sense at all, as it didn’t contain any words in the human language. Vasu wondered which animal could’ve understood his friend. Cats perhaps? Or wolves?

He sympathetically patted his back and nodded.

“Just one moment,” he said and shuffled off to his bedroom.

He had to pause to take in the varying instruments spread out on his side table and had to swallow as his mouth suddenly dried up.

“Have you sent him away?” Rukmini wondered shooting him a dubious glance.

“Not yet. Give me your Alprax,” Vasu asked wriggling his fingers.

“Why?” Rukmini asked giving him a suspicious look.

“It’s for a good cause,” Vasu said sounding impatient.

“Are you going to kill him? Do I need an alibi?” she asked in a mild tone like murder was a simple matter.

“I’m not killing my best friend. He needs to calm down and Alprax with a little wine will do him good,” he explained.

“I need an alibi,” she muttered to herself and pulled out her phone and the drugs.

Vasu snorted.

“Arjuna would be dead ten times over by now if that were the case,” he said and sauntered off. He never had the habit of mixing drugs with alcohol but in the past it had helped tons when dealing with a heartbroken Arjuna. Nothing really phased the guy except his angry girlfriend. Arjuna could never tell the difference and Vasu wasn’t going to be the one to tell him that little tidbit.

Once Arjuna finished sipping his wine while hiccup-sobbing, he appeared a bit calmer. Gotta love those little pills.

“Now can you tell me what happened? Preferably in a human language so I can understand?” Vasu asked with a thick layer of sarcasm which again Arjuna didn’t notice. Why was Vasu wasting his time with him when he had a devious girlfriend in his bed?

“I fucked things up badly. With Malini,” Arjuna said solemnly.

‘When haven’t you?’ Vasu wanted to ask but as the dutiful best friend refrained from doing so. Vasu was such a giving, compassionate person.

“What did you do?” Vasu stifled a sigh and asked. He only had 15 minutes left on the clock. Rukmini would leave as soon as the time was up if he didn’t join her. Orgasm be damned. Vasu junior was pouting.

“We made love when she was at Yuvi’s house,” he murmured.

Vasu let out a low whistle.

“You really are an idiot. Why didn’t you find someone else to fuck with?”

Arjuna ran his hand through his messy hair.

“You don’t understand. I didn’t want to fuck a stranger. I had a bad week and work has been hell. I just wanted some comfort and went to Malini. One thing led to another,” he shrugged like it all made sense. Vasu supposed it did. Seeing how comforting a girl can very easily devolve into falling into her bed, it was possible.

“Your brothers must be pissed,” Vasu pointed out helpfully.

Arjuna snorted.

“That’s an understatement. They forbid me to see her for the next three of my turns. That’s like ages away! I am not allowed to see her or talk to her or even message her!” he exclaimed in a broken voice.

Less than 10 minutes left. Time to wrap things up quickly.

“Honestly, you should’ve known better. What did Malini say to this? I can’t believe she’d take this lying down. She hates being bossed around,” Vasu pointed out.

“She’s too guilty. She’s the one who said that she would rotate between us all every week. And that any violation of this schedule would receive an appropriate punishment,” Arjuna stated sadly.

“The first mistake you made was introducing the woman you liked, as your friend, to your brothers,” Vasu said.

“It’s too late to change the past!” Arjuna whined.

“And the twins each claim a week and spend two weeks with her together since they live together. It isn’t fair! Now I can’t see her for the next three months! How am I going to survive?”

Oh God! Here come the tears.

Only 5 minutes left.

“Alright. This is what we’re going to do. You take this nice bottle of wine and go to bed. Sleep and we’ll talk more about this tomorrow,” Vasu said shepherding him towards the guest bedroom.

“But Vasu! There’s no way I can sleep tonight!” he protested though his grip on the bottle of wine hadn’t lessened.

“Listen, just go to sleep. Wine always makes you drowsy. If you ever hear any odd noises, do not come to investigate,” Vasu warned.

2 minutes left! Shit!

“You have a guest? I’m so sorry,” began Arjuna.

“Don’t worry about it. Good night da,” Vasu had to literally push him through the door and slammed it shut before scurrying off to his own bedroom. A night of sinful debauchery awaited him.

***

Ding dong. Ding dong.

Vasu clutched Rukmini closer and hoped the sound was just an auditory hallucination of a dream.

Ding dong. Ding dong. Ding dong. Ding dong.

“Did you invite another girlfriend over tonight?” Rukmini asked suspiciously.

Vasu kissed her shoulder and squeezed her ample buttocks.

“I would never share the precious time I spend with you with anyone else, baby,” he said softly and paused.

“Unless you wanted me to,” he added and laughed as Rukmini swatted at his chest.

Pulling on a pair of shorts he trudged over to the door wondering why this night was turning out to be very busy and not in the fun way. Though he thanked his lucky stars that Rukmini hadn’t abandoned him. Even though his ass twinged with every step.

He had a vertigo of deja vu as he opened the door.

Anna!” his baby sister jumped into his arms crying. He held her protectively and shut the door, leading her to the dining table.

He had a feeling this was going to be a very long night.

Chapter 2

Arjuna's POV:

Nagarjuna's head hurt, like it always did after a night of heavy drinking. He wished he could say the wine helped, but it was never the case. He let out a loud groan of absolute misery and winced at the volume. He fucked up monumentally. He crossed boundaries that made his brothers hate him and Malini feel guilty. It wasn't entirely his fault though. Malini was a willing participant. And that is why she felt guilty. The punishment was for both him and Malini.

Malini was a strong, independent  woman though. Arjuna strongly believed she would reach out to him one way or the other within a week. She wouldn't let her brothers steamroll over her and forbid her from making contact. Arjuna was her favorite after all. All he had to do was remain patient till Malini came to him. He could do this. Patience wasn't his forte but he could totally wait for his love.

With that bright thought, he made his way to the kitchen to whip up some breakfast. It was the least he could do after imposing on his best friend's date. Then again, Vasu's calendar was always filled with numerous commitments. And Arjuna was always barging in, disrupting one event or the other. Vasu never complained though, aside from a barbed comment every now and then. He never turned him away and that was why he was his lifelong buddy.

Arjuna decided to cook for three since he wasn't sure if Vasu's lady lover would join them or not. He planned to make Omelette and Chappati with vegetable guruma. He whistled as he hustled about the kitchen when he heard a slight gasp behind him. He whirled around and came face to face with a young girl who looked shy. She wore a pair of tiny blue shorts and a tank top which showed off her midriff. Her eyes were red rimmed like she spent the whole night crying and she looked familiar.

"Subha?" Arjuna asked surprised. The last time he saw Vasu's little sister, she was in school wearing a pleated uniform skirt and a school bag. She usually spent most of her time with her elder brother who was also her legal guardian. Then she went off to college. Fashion designing, he believed.

"Nagarjuna," she whispered in a soft voice. Her eyes lit up and she gave a shy smile.

"Vasu didn't tell me you were here."

Arjuna scratched the back of his neck feeling sheepish.

"I arrived last night. Had some issues I needed to deal with," he muttered.

"How are you? I haven't seen you in so long," Arjuna asked turning his attention back to his eggs. The long smooth legs of Vasu's little sister were far too distracting.

He heard her padding her way to the counter beside him so she could roll the Chappati dough.

"I'm fine. I graduated a month back and I've been staying at Bala Anna's house. I came to visit Vasu last night," she said quietly. She was such a fragile little wisp. Why did Balakumar  drop her off last night at Vasu's place?

But before he could ask her that, Vasu stomped into the kitchen and cleared his throat loudly.

"Vasu! Good morning! We're making breakfast," Arjuna gestured to the stove with his laddle.

Vasu narrowed his eyes at Arjuna then at his sister. He snapped his fingers at her.

"You, go get dressed," he said sharply. Subha sniffed and shot him a glare before complying.

Once she was out of sight, Arjuna turned to Vasu who was watching her retreat with a frown.

"What is she doing here, Vasu?" he asked as he stirred the guruma.

Vasu leaned against the wall, watching him work.

"My brother is playing Big Brother and upset her."

"What did he do?" Arjuna couldn't imagine anyone wanting to upset the little angel.

"He arranged a marriage with Suyodhana without even consulting her," Vasu growled.

"Suyodhana! Not him!" Arjuna exclaimed feeling his own blood boil. Arjuna and his brothers had a long feud with Suyodhana's family. They were business rivals and their dispute began long before their birth starting with Suyo's father stealing the company from Arjuna's own father.

"You think I want my sweet innocent sister marrying that bastard? He asked Bala for her hand! He's been lusting after my sister for ages! Fucking pervert!" Vasu pushed off the wall and paced looking every bit the caged wild animal.

Ding dong. Ding dong.Ding dong. Ding dong. Ding dong. Ding dong.

"I'm going to blast that damn bell to pieces!" Vasu bellowed as he stalked to the front door. Arjuna felt a frisson of worry for his best friend who was not having a good day. He would try to help him in any way possible. He would also try to save Subha from Suyodhana's clutches. The rumors he's heard so far about his late night activities haven't been reassuring.

Loud shouting from the door, however, drew his attention from the stove. He turned down the flame letting the guruma simmer and made his way over to the front door. He could hear Subha's high pitched shouts as well.

Balakumar was raging at the door at both Vasu and Subha. Arjuna didn't think it was wise to get in the middle of this fight. His presence might make things worse since Balakumar hated him as much as he hated Arjuna's brothers.

"How could you run away in the middle of the night without telling me? It isn't safe for a young girl like you to hail a taxi at midnight, Subha! My God, you are such a child!"

"A child you wanted to marry off to your very old friend!"

"Suyodhana is an honorable man who respects women. You can't find a man like that even if  you scoured the entire planet twice!"

"You can't make this decision for me! I'm an adult!"

"An adult who behaves like a child and runs off at the first sign of discomfort instead of staying behind and talking about the problem! This shows you aren't capable of making adult decisions. You need someone to make these decisions for you and till you show signs of maturity, I will make these decisions for you!"

"You're my brother, Bala! Not my freaking father! I hate you!"

Subha dashed off and slammed the door loudly behind her making Bala wince and rake his hand through his messed up hair. He had that hungover look which Arjuna could relate to really well.

"You fucked this up spectacularly, Anna," Vasu mocked him.

"Shut up, Vasu! I know you've been whispering nonsense into her ears about Suyo."

"All of which is true. She asked me what I thought of him and I told her. I'm surprised you think I don't care for the welfare of my sister."

"She's my sister too. And I know that Suyo will be a good husband for her. I can also keep a closer eye on her and if he ever fucks up, he knows I'll make him pay."

"Are you going to force her to marry him? She's going to hate you for the rest of her life if you do so."

"I'll give her some time to cool off. Then I'll be back to talk to her. In the meantime, I want you to make her comfortable with the idea of marriage. When I come back, I'll arrange for a meeting with Suyo so that she can talk to him. Don't spew shit about my best friend, Vasu. I know enough to give you trouble with your own girlfriends."

"Resorting to blackmail, Bala? And you wonder why I think Suyo is a bad influence on you."

Balakumar gave him a long hard stare which Vasu responded with a cool blank face revealing nothing.

"I'll be back in a couple of days," said Bala and left.

Arjuna wondered what Vasu was planning. Vasu and Bala never fought much but when they did, on the few occasions, it was epic. Vasu would never submit quietly to Bala's demands. It will be interesting to see what plans he comes up with.

Arjuna stepped into the kitchen to go back to his cooking and the scene that greeted him made his mouth grow dry. Subha had changed into a teeny tiny skirt and was bending down to grab some bowls. Her ass was a work of art, so perfectly shaped. His cock twitched slightly in his pants and Arjuna was wondering if he should stay here or retreat back to his house.

Vasu might murder him but he decided the best course of action was to wait here to see how the situation paved out. And when Subha brought the plates over to the dining table and brushed his shoulders with her hips wearing a small smile, he decided he made the right choice.

Chapter 3

Subhalaxmi's POV:

Subha wasn't as naive as her brothers seemed to think she was. While she loved them both immensely, she had different relationships with both of them. Bala treated her like a daughter. She supposed being forced to take on the family responsibility and becoming her guardian at a young age hardened him and turned him into the respected man he was today but Subha often had to remind him that she was his sister. She knew Bala loved her but sometimes he was so overbearing!

Vasu on the other hand was her favorite brother. He was fun and didn't treat her like a child. Although he had his bursts of overprotectiveness like making her change into appropriate clothes in front of his best friend or if she got into trouble with boys at college. Those were events she couldn't tell Bala or he would murder them and pull her out of college. Vasu knew how to handle situations delicately. And he was who she trusted to get her out of this pickle.

Subha knew Suyodhana. She remembered how he used to watch her carefully even when she was a young girl in school. As a child, she liked having the attention of an adult on her. As she grew older, she wasn't sure she liked all that focused attention. And as an adult, she most definitely didn't want the attention. She didn't know how to tell all this to her brother without making Suyodhana seem like a pervert. How does a man who's seen her grow up, go through puberty, want to marry her? It felt wrong and she didn't like it.

Subha was surprised to see Arjuna that morning. What Vasu wasn't aware of, was the secret crush she harbored towards his best friend. Seeing Arjuna seemed symbolic like the universe was pointing her in his direction. Arjuna always treated her with respect and kindness. He's helped her out with her homework and even gifted her with a teddy bear when she was in high school. While it wasn't probably age appropriate, she loved it and  used to sleep with it in bed. Arjit was at home though since she forgot to bring him with her while making her grand escape. The age difference wasn't that great between them and her crush which bloomed in high school hadn't diminished one bit. In fact, seeing the messy hair, bare muscular chest that morning reawakened the previously locked away feelings and they sprung out with a vengeance. The feelings were now accompanied by a low simmering heat of lust and if the flames were stroked, had the potential to turn into an inferno. Subha wanted that. She wanted Arjuna.

Arjuna it seemed had no plans of leaving the house much to Subha's delight. He listened and joined in whenever Vasu's 'Suyodhana is an asshole and Bala is an idiot' rant lost steam. She never really understood their rivalry but it appeared that it was going to help her now.

In the afternoon, Subha decided to have a chat with her favorite brother.

"I'm sorry, Subha. The best thing you can do now is meet Suyodhana and then tell Bala that you didn't like him," Vasu said seeming resigned. Subha scowled at him. Her brother was exhausted after staying up with her and then fucking his girlfriend through the night. It was affecting his thought process.

"Or I could marry someone else," she gently suggested and wondered if knocking her brother's skull would wake his brain up.

Vasu blinked slowly and a new light shone in his eyes.

"Yes. That is possible. Now I need to find a proper groom in two days! Where do I even begin," he started muttering something incomprehensible under his breath.

"I might have a suggestion," Subha said in a small voice hiding a grin.

Vasu looked up with narrowed eyes. The black circles made him look like a raccoon.

"Subha, are you telling me you have a boyfriend? A boyfriend I didn't even know about?" he asked slowly in a deadly voice. Subha rolled her eyes at him.

"Like I could actually hide a boyfriend from you," she said bitterly. Vasu was also the overprotective brother who had the habit of flirting with her friends to get inside info. It was a better tactic than obsessively stalking her Facebook or Instagram accounts or going through her phone. Subha suspected he was doing all the above but had yet to catch him red handed.

"What I meant was, there is a guy I like but I don't know if he likes me back. Or if he would even marry me," Subha said. She didn't even have to fake being sad. She didn't know if Arjuna even liked her that way.

"Who is this guy?" asked Vasu in what sounded like righteous anger.

"Do you promise to talk to him about me?" she looked at her brother through her eyelashes. It always made both her brothers do anything for her if she did this.

"Who is this guy?" he repeated without answering the question.

Subha watched him carefully and finally Vasu gave in.

"Fine. I'll talk to this mystery man of yours if I approve of him," Vasu said.

"You have to give him a chance, Vasu!"

"Fine," Vasu relented but didn't look happy about it.

"Give me the name of the man who has captured your heart," he said sarcastically and Subha made a face which made them both laugh.

"Nagarjuna," she said.

"Huh? Is he here?" Vasu looked at the bedroom door in askance.

"No, Vasu," Subha said exasperated at her brother's thick headedness.

"I like Nagarjuna and I wouldn't mind being married to him."

Vasu looked like a goldfish staring at her with wide eyes and mouth opening and closing uselessly.

"No."

"Vasu! You promised you would talk to him first!" Subha shrieked fixing her brother with a disappointed look.

Vasu sighed and fell back on the bed with his arm covering his eyes.

"You don't know what you're asking for, Subha. Arjuna is trouble. His entire family is fucked up. Not to mention that if you marry Arjuna, the feud between Suyo and Arjuna will get worse. But even that isn't a big deal," he waved off the issue of a feud as if it were nothing.

Vasu moved his arm a bit so he could fix Subha with a look,

"Are you aware of the fact that Arjuna and his brothers are in a polyamorous relationship with Malini? And if by some miracle Arjuna does agree to marry you, you'll have to share him with Malini for a week every month?"

Subha stared at him as she considered the situation. She knew all about the odd relationship from Bala's long disapproving rants and wondered how it differed from Vasu having multiple girlfriends. Of course, marriage was a whole different ball game. She already knew that asking Arjuna to break up with his 'one fifth' girlfriend was out of the question. He was too attached to Malini. The main question was, would she share her husband willingly with another woman?

If she could have Arjuna by her side, she was sure she could manage one week every month.

"Yes," she answered ignoring the disbelieving look on her brother's face.

"Subha, stop joking around! Why do you want to marry a guy who has already given his heart away? What can he possibly offer you?" Vasu asked.

"Arjuna is in an imperfect relationship. He needs someone who's always there for him. He may think he's ok with this relationship now but who doesn't want a wife to come home to? Someone who can share his problems with him and cook for him and take care of him? Your girlfriends are all very independent and hate the very idea of a lifelong commitment. Plus, someone always comes over every other night. You don't feel lonely. I'm sure that Arjuna and his brothers feel lonely on the days Malini isn't with them. I want to be there for Arjuna on those days and I know he'll take good care of me," Subha replied calmly.

Vasu gave her a long look studying her closely.

"What if Arjuna doesn't want to marry you?" he asked.

Subha worried her bottom lip. All her ideas revolved around Arjuna falling madly in love with her.

"Then give me a chance to make him like me," she suggested.

"How would I do that? Here you go Arjuna! Have your way with my baby sister and let me know if you like her. She wants to get hitched to you, you see?" Vasu mocked and Subha growled and beat him with a pillow.

"Stop being so nasty, Vasu! He is an gentleman. He won't treat me that way," insisted Subha.

Vasu let out a snort.

"If that's what you think of Arjuna, you don't know him at all. The man is an animal. In fact I should teach you this lesson. All men are animals and they always think of sex. If you think they don't, you are delusional. You see, this is why Bala treats you like a child," Vasu exclaimed with a dismayed sigh and poked the tip of her nose. She swatted his hand away in annoyance.

"The two of you didn't even let me talk to boys!" Subha wailed and hid her face behind a curtain of her hair. What was she going to do if she didn't understand men at all? Was she even fit to get married? She didn't like this situation and it scared her tremendously. But a small part of her was sure that Arjuna would treat her only with utmost respect. "Oh, come here. Don't cry, Subha," Vasu sighed and tugged her into his arms. He always made her feel so safe.

"I don't know what to do. I've loved Arjuna for years!" she sobbed and listened to the exasperated sigh Vasu let out as he rubbed her back comforting her.

"Fine, I'll talk to him and let you have a chance to get to know him better. But if he lays one finger on you, I plan on breaking his bones and feeding him his own bone soup," Vasu proclaimed solemnly.

Subha rolled her eyes and let out a watery laugh.

"How are you going to do that?"

"Break his fingers? I planned on-"

"No stupid! How will you let us spend time together?" Subha asked with a chortle which made Vasu smile. He always knew how to make her smile.

"I was planning on sending you to one of your friends' houses but this is even better. I'll just ask my friend to 'Pretty please kidnap my sister for her own safety.' He'll do it for me. This isn't the strangest thing we've done in the name of friendship," Vasu explained looking thoughtful.

"And you'll tell Bala Anna that I ran away again?"

"No. I'll tell him that you had my blessing to go to an undisclosed safe location and that you'll come back once he stopped this stupid farce of a wedding," Vasu said with a grin.

"I love you, Anna," Subha exclaimed and hugged him,
