Kadie was pulled up by Will's embrace and she looked longingly into his eyes.

"Will," She breathed. His hair was covered in brown material and she looked down to see a skull that her shoe was stuck in.

"Let's get going," He whispered, holding her hand and pulling her toward the edge of the bin they landed in.

He pulled her and for the first time in her life, Kadie realized she was in shock. She couldn't move. She dropped the gun that was in her hands and she felt tears roll down her face. "Will, what the hell is happening to me?" She felt herself want to collapse and Will caught her, groaning in pain.

"Kadie, there's a lot of shit going on in your head right now and I know you're trying to process it but right now, we don't have time for it. We're not done here. We need to get the hell out of here, come on." Will reached for the gun and tucked it in his belt loop before he jumped over the edge of the bin and pulled her down, making sure she didn't hurt herself.

Kadie tried to clear her mind and think about their next move. "We stink, we need to make our way to the river and follow it until we find a safe spot to get out." Kadie nodded toward the forest where she could hear faintly water running. From the sounds of it, the river was maybe half a mile away. "Let's go, can you make it?"

Will nodded and Kadie couldn't tell if the way he was limping was because something was broken, fractured, or bleeding. There was a variety of stains on him and Kadie didn't know if it was from the bin or if they were his stains.

Either way Kadie ignored it and monitored him to make sure he was still okay. The sounds of the river became louder but so did Will's breathing. Kadie looked over and Will was gone. She looked back to see him leaning against a rock and she ran back. "Are you okay?" She tried to examine him but Will batted her away.

"I'm okay, love. Just needed to catch my breath." When he pushed himself up, Kadie noticed a large amount of blood coming from his pants that wasn't there before.

"You're not okay, what the hell did he do?" Kadie pushed him back down into a seated position and Will protested to no avail. He was already weak. "Will-" Kadie's voice trailed off as she stared at the wound. "Will, this cut is so deep I can see muscle, why the hell didn't you say anything?" Kadie ripped part of his pants and wrapped it around his leg like a makeshift tourniquet and Will groaned.

"To be honest I didn't know I was bleeding until I landed in that dump. And by then it was too late. I didn't want to slow us down."

"Yeah, well, the whole point of us escaping was to keep us alive. I don't need you dying on the journey. You're a doctor for gods' sake." Will nodded and laid his head back while Kadie finished tying off the knot. She stood and Will stared back at her, a solemn expression.

"I don't think I can make it-"

"No, shut up." Kadie picked up the remaining fabric and tossed it in the opposite direction of where they were headed. "William, if you think for a second I would leave you here to die without me then I don't know who the fuck you thought you were in love with. We're in this together and until the end, you here me?"

Will looked into Kadie's eyes, trying to find a glimmer of her need to survive without him and found none. He had to try. For her.

The took off again walking as fast as they could without hurting Will, Kadie supporting his weight. Finally, they reached the river, the stream raged angrily as if it was against them leaving as well. Kadie glared, determined to get to safety. "We have to go downstream until we hit the end of the mountain." Will inquired. "There's a small gas station where they'll be waiting for us. We have to go at least a mile around it to avoid a perimeter. Then we can head toward a hospital and find a friend of mine that can keep us safe and get us far away from here."

"You've really thought of everything." Kadie said. She slowly started lowering herself into the angry stream, the cold water striking her skin like needles that got fuller and fuller as she became more submerged. It immediately tried to drag her, but Kadie held onto a branch that hung on the side. "Come on, at the very least let's get across this river and let it wash us off before we continue." Kadie helped Will in and he slipped, his head going beneath the water. Kadie called out his name and saw him a few moments later come up from the water, meters away downstream from where he fell in.

"I'm okay! This shit is too fucking fast. It's too dangerous." Will gasped and shook off the water from his hair, different gunk going with it and Kadie felt an idea come to her.

"Wait! I have an idea. Trust me! Just catch me and don't let go of that branch." Kadie then threw herself forward before he had another chance to protest, her body taken by the freezing water so quickly that it knocked the air from her lungs. She flailed momentarily and then stopped, extending her hands to find something to grasp. Her hands caught something and she pulled. To her surprise, it wasn't Will's hand but the hem of his other pant leg. Will reached down and pulled her up, holding her above the water.

"Bollocks! Don't you dare do that again!" Will kissed her then, his warm lips lingering on hers softly before he sighed. "Let's just wash off and get out. It should cover our scent until we get to a safer part of the river."

They hurried out, being careful with their steps before they took off again, there was a sense of danger in the air that freaked Kadie out thinking about how any second they could get caught. Kadie felt her feet carry her further and further and she tried not to think about Will being injured. He's going to be okay, she told herself. When they reached a safer part of the river, they got in again, swimming downwards and avoiding the sharp rocks. They were moving faster in the water, and Kadie felt herself growing more relaxed.

"Did we really manage to escape so easily?" Kadie asked, her voice quiet and hoarse.

"That was easy to you?" Will glanced over to her and she winced, realizing his leg probably had the worst of it. "We're almost at the bridge, don't worry. The worst part is yet to come."

Kadie nodded and they let the water take them further down, finally reaching the bridge where they climbed out and rested for a few seconds under it. They could hear an occasional car driving overhead and they stayed out of sight as best as they could.

"We're at the bottom of the mountain, but we still need to make it around the gas station. They probably have armed guards surrounding the area already, so we need to make our way around for about a mile. The river cuts straight through it and we can't risk being seen. Come on." Will began walking away from the river opposite to the side where they had entered.

Kadie followed, ignoring the way the fresh air made her colder. She noticed Will's pace go slower and slower and Kadie felt her heart clench. What if they didn't make it?

Kadie sped up, trying to get Will to increase his pace too.

Will surprisingly kept up, still guiding at a reasonable pace. "We're almost there." He said, out of breath from the way they were moving. That's when they heard a sound that made them freeze. A motor. And not just any motor, but the motor to a four wheeler. The kind they used to patrol the grounds.

Kadie and Will took off in a sprint, their eyes dodging up and down looking for a hiding spot to no avail. Kadie felt tears spring to her eyes and Will fell, his leg collapsing underneath him. "Will!" Kadie turned around and tried to help him up, her strength only enough to lift him slightly before dropping him again. "Will, please get up!"

Will groaned and pushed Kadie away, "Go! Run! You can make it! Find the nearest hospital- look for Raphael-"

"No!" Kadie yelled, her voice breaking as tears rolled down her face. "I'm not leaving you!" She pressed her lips to his, their hearts becoming one erratic best as the four wheeler came to a stop a few feet away.

"William..." They looked up to see one of the guards standing there- holding a rifle he seemed hesitant to use. "I'm sorry, Will, but everyone knows you don't mess with the boss' girls."

Kadie and Will we're huddled close together and Will touched Kadie's hip as the guard raised his rifle. "I'm sorry, too." Will stated, tearing his gaze away from Kadie and focusing on him.

The handgun that was on Kadie's belt was suddenly in Will's hand and he fired a single shot at the guard, who fell lifeless despite the vest he had on. Kadie felt relief but also shock as she saw him fall. Kadie quickly stood up and kicked away the rifle from the guard's hand before she assessed him. A single gun shot wound directly above his left eyebrow left him bleeding out of the back of his head on the ground.

Kadie turned around and helped Will up, seizing the opportunity to steal his mode of transport. "Come on," Kadie grunted, pulling him up from the ground, "The others can't be far behind, especially if they were close enough to hear that gunshot."

Will grabbed onto Kadie, using the energy he had left to get on the four-wheeler with her, and he held on as she took off, their legs finally getting a rest from running. She maneuvered through the forest, forcing Will to talk to her the whole way. Finally, they came upon an empty road that would put them out in the open. Kadie stayed under the hidden safety of the trees for just a moment, focused on the sounds around her. When she was certain she couldn't hear any sound of other people, she crossed the road, continuing to the forest on the other side. It didn't take long before they reached another road and Will grunted.

"We should be at least a mile off of the perimeter, let's get to the hospital where my friend works. We're going to need to find a phone."
