How VR Porn Can Change Your Life

For Better or Worse

So, let’s be honest with each other. We’ve all done it. At some point we have all clicked onto an adult website in hopes of finding something sexy enough to turn us on.

Usually, the house is quiet, the volume is kept on low, and the laptop or phone you are watching it on has it’s history erased afterwards. You won’t find any judgement here.

When VR was first introduced, we all went “Fantastic!” Think about how virtual reality could be used in classrooms to teach children, in hospitals to train surgeons, or in real estate to show people houses.

I bet there were only a few of you that went, “How can we use it for porn?”

All of the big names refuse to involve themselves with the PR nightmare that comes with being linked to the sex industry, but secretly, the sex industry is putting millions into developing the perfect porn for these goggles.

Why?

Virtual reality was designed to be more interactive. Users could feel like they were wherever their game was taking place. Users had more control and they felt like they were participating in the activities.

Are you single and looking to get your rocks off? Perfect, now you actually feel like you are deep inside whoever it is you are having fun with.

So, VR is great then?

Well, I gave VR porn a test drive. I logged on to Pornhub’s VR channel and checked it out. The truth is, it still isn’t perfect.

Looking through the goggles at the orgy that was supposedly happening around me, I found it a little shaky and disorienting. The pictures weren’t perfect and the sound left a lot to be desired, but it did make you feel more involved.

I didn’t feel like I was watching something on the screen.

It was really strange though, looking down and seeing a man’s body. Sadly, the porn industry still thinks you must be a man to enjoy masturbation… they should definitely let you select your gender before the video commences.

As VR porn becomes a bigger industry, the graphics will get better. When they do I really think it could be unstoppable. I imagine it may even take over from the porn industry that exists today.

We are always wanting bigger, better, higher definition, and more interaction.

What does this mean for our relationships though?

This is tough. I have always strongly held the opinion that watching porn is not cheating on your partner. You aren’t touching anyone else and you aren’t participating in any activities with anyone else.

With VR porn, however, we see the lines getting a little bit blurry. It looks like you are participating in sexual activities with someone else.

With the nature of technology right now, we are going to continue to progress, and we want things to feel real. How real does it have to feel before it might as well just be the real thing? How close do you have to get to having sex with someone else before your partner sees it as cheating?

My suggestion:

As the graphics do get better, it is definitely worth bringing this up with your other half. Ask them their opinions. Redefine those lines. That way, no one can get into any trouble in the future.

We aren't watching porn to hurt our partners, and you don't want to accidentally hurt your partner with the porn you are watching. Worst case scenario, you go back to good old fashioned porn on a computer or tablet. If that is all it takes for a happy relationship, then compromise is definitely a great idea.
