Erotic Stories on Writing Platforms

Writing platforms contain hundreds if not thousands of niche content on them that is uploaded every single day. With such a vast array of different topics to write about it can be a little confusing on what does well when posted on these sites. While it is true that writing about current events, pets, and other important topics can in fact gain a lot of readers and help inform people… there is an almost hidden niche on these sites that does very well. Everyone likes to escape their reality for a short time and many read for this purpose alone. Another fact is, most people enjoy sex and passion. If you put these together it makes sense that erotic stories tend to do well on these platforms.

To date I have written over a hundred posts for both Medium and Vocal. Out of all of those posts which range in a wide variety of topics and tones, by far, the erotic stories I’ve written and posted still remain at the top of the list in my stats. Out of so many different posts, I earn the most from erotic stories, because, they are still the posts that receive the greatest number of views and reads. People love to escape into erotic scenarios and fantasize in so many ways.

Fact or Fiction?

It is important to note that erotic stories cover more than the traditional meaning that is most often associated with it. When most people think of erotic story, they tend to picture a fictional story that enters into one fetish or another. That’s not always the case though. Some of the best erotic stories are actually written memories of real events from the author’s life or the life of someone they know. Of course, the names should always be changed to preserve everyone rights and privacy, but the story itself can still be told.

Also, an erotic story does not have to enter into a fetish or be extravagant or overly intense either. An honest and well worded recounting of a romantic and true experience between two people who love each other… is a relatable and beautiful story. In fact, a lot of times in real life, sex can be even more entertaining to hear about than the scenes you see in movies or read in books. How many times have you watched a love scene or read one in a book… and one of the characters farted? How many times in fiction have there been squishy or weird sounds during sex? Now, how many times have those things happened in real life? Exactly.

Don’t Complicate It, Just Write It

The last aspect worth mentioning is a simple one. A lot of writers who write erotic stories want to complicate them. Too many people are even afraid to write erotic stories because they think that have to sound poetic or it has to be some epic romance novel style story. If writing about a real experience, just write it as you remember. Imagine yourself telling it to a friend and then write what you would say, how you would say it. Readers who would want to read the story will still relate to what is happening. Look at it this way, if you write it and not everyone enjoys it… some people will still enjoy it. If you don’t write it at all, though… then nobody will every enjoy it. You have nothing to lose by at least trying to write it.

If you feel uninspired or don’t know what story to write, but you know that you want to write it; start with your own life. Write about an experience you had. Write about an experience you wish you had or an opportunity lost and how it would have gone. Think back on your own experiences and even if there is a bad one, write how you wish it had gone. Just write it. There is a place for erotic stories on writing platforms such as Medium, Vocal, and countless others. If you want to write it then write it and put it out there. Change names, but enjoy the writing of it. If you put it out there, someone will connect with it. Good luck.
