Celeb Fun

part 459

By Forest GreenPublished 25 days ago 3 min read

“Camila, is that true? Did he really do that to you? I had no idea.” My voice was barely a whisper, the words catching in my throat as I watched her, slumped on the plush sofa cushions, a crumpled tissue clutched in her hand. The air in her meticulously decorated living room, usually so vibrant, felt thick with unspoken accusations and shattered trust.

She finally looked up, her eyes red-rimmed and swollen, but there was a flicker of something else there too – a kind of brittle defiance. “Oh yes,” she rasped, the words laced with a bitterness that made my stomach clench. “He can’t keep his dick in his pants. He has been fucking every girl in the school.” A fresh wave of tears welled up, spilling down her cheeks, leaving glistening tracks on her pale skin. “Every single one. Or so it feels.”

My mind reeled. It was her ex. The guy I also knew. The charming, witty English professor who had captivated us all with his intellect and his easy smile. The man who, until now, I’d considered a friend, a mentor even. The idea of him, not just with Camila, but with “every girl,” sent a strange jolt through me. It wasn't just shock; there was a perverse curiosity, an unwelcome fascination with the sheer scale of his betrayal.

I sat beside her, offering a comforting arm around her trembling shoulders. Her sobs were raw, echoing in the quiet room. “I just, I feel so stupid,” she choked out, burying her face in her hands. “I believed him. All his promises, all his sweet words.”

As she cried, a different kind of anger began to simmer within me, an anger not just for Camila’s pain, but for the audacity of him. He hadn't just deceived one woman; he had woven a web of lies through the entire institution, tainting everything, everyone. And then, a memory, a fleeting moment from last month’s faculty mixer, flashed through my mind. He, laughing a little too loudly with his new flame from the history department, her hand lingering on his arm a fraction too long. I’d dismissed it then, as innocent flirtation. Now, it felt like a siren, blaring a warning I’d been too blind to heed.

Camila’s tears subsided into ragged breaths. She pulled away slightly, her gaze fixed on something beyond me, a distant, haunted look in her eyes. “He even told me I was special,” she whispered, a dry, humorless laugh escaping her lips. “He said I was the only one who truly understood him. God, what a cliché.”

The silence that followed was heavy, pregnant with the weight of her revelation. But beneath the sorrow, something else was stirring in me. A sense of obligation, yes, but also a growing awareness of the intricate, hidden currents that had been running beneath the surface of our lives, unnoticed. And a sudden, undeniable urge to know more. Not out of malice, but out of a need to understand the full extent of the deception. To see just how deep this rabbit hole went. And perhaps, to find a way to make him pay for the damage he had wrought, not just on Camila, but on everyone he had so carelessly discarded. This was far from over. This was just the beginning of the unraveling.

Camila, draped across the plush velvet settee in my dimly lit living room, was a vision of disheveled grace. Her laughter, still echoing in the silent space, had been a prelude to this.

My lips, still faintly tasting of the smoky bourbon we’d shared, grazed the delicate skin of her collarbone. She shivered, a delicious, involuntary ripple that traveled through her. My hand, having found its home moments ago, gently cupped her breast, its warmth a perfect counterpoint to the cool air conditioner. Her nipple, already a taut bud, peaked further under my circling thumb, eliciting a soft gasp that vibrated against my mouth.
